4 bikes that will mark the 2022 cyclocross season

Cyclocross 17/11/22 18:00 Migue A.

The cyclo-cross season started a few months ago. A premiere that has been marked by the big absences of Tom Pidcock, Mathieu Van der Poel and Wout Van Aert, masters and lords of CX in recent years with the permission of Eli Iserbyt, who is currently dominating the World Cup. Now, just a few days before they all meet again, let's take a look at which bike each of them will be riding.

Cyclo-cross raises another level: CX big names return to competition

After a long time away from CX, Pidcock returns this weekend at the Merksplas Superprestige and the Overijse World Cup. The Englishman is the reigning world champion and has not raced since he won the title. Van Aert hasn't started the season either, although it looks like he will make his debut this month at the XO2 in Kortrijk and the World Cup in Hulst.

Van der Poel will be back after overcoming his back problems. The date of his comeback is not yet known, but there are some who point to the end of the month at the World Cup event in Hulst. Finally, Iserbyt has already clocked up a lot of circuit hours this season and, although he has also had some weaker moments, his performances in the World Cup put him right into the equation of the big favourites.

With the introductions done, let's take a look at the bikes they will be racing.

Before we get into it, it should be noted that as some of these riders have not yet started their CX season, the final set-up of their bikes may vary from the one described below.

Eli Iserbyt's Ridley X-Night (Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal)

Let's start with the man of the moment. This is the machine with which he is dominating the start of the World Cup season.

  • Model: Ridley X-Night
  • Groupset: Shimano Dura-Ace
  • Wheels: DT-Swiss CRC
  • Tyres: Tubular Dugast

Here you can see this bike in detail.

Mathieu Van der Poel's Canyon Inflite 2023 (Alpecin - Deceuninck)

The Dutch rider will be back on the bike on which he has won great races in the past.

  • Model: Canyon Inflite 2023
  • Groupset: SRAM Force eTap AXS
  • Wheels: DT-Swiss CRC 1400 Spline
  • Tyres: Schwalbe X-One Allround TLE

Wout Van Aert's Cervélo R5-CX (Jumbo Visma)

The Belgian cyclist will ride the same bike he raced last year, but as a video published on social networks shows, he will do so with a new look that features the Belgian flag on his fork.

  • Model: Cervélo R5-CX
  • Groupset: Dura Ace Di2
  • Wheels: Dura Ace
  • Tyres: Tubular Dugast

Here you can find further information about this model, which was launched last year.

Tom Pidcock's Pinarello Crossista F (INEOS Grenadiers)

In 2022 we will see Pidcock wear his rainbow jersey for the first time and he will do so on the Pinarello Cossista F that the Italian manufacturer developed for the British rider to win his first Elite World Championship less than a year ago.

This will be the same model with which we have already seen Pauline Ferrand-Prevot compete in her first races with her new team, INEOS Grenadiers.

  • Model: Pinarello Crossista F
  • Groupset: Dura Ace de 11-speed
  • Wheels: Dura Ace
  • Tyres: Challenge Grifo Ultra 33s

And this is the end of our review of the main protagonists - the bikes - of the cyclo-cross season.
