Van der Poel becomes new Lamborghini ambassador
The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider poses next to his new Urus S, the ultra-sporty SUV created by the Italian brand and which certifies the agreement between Mathieu Van der Poel and Lamborghini Antwerp to become an ambassador of the automotive firm in principle, for the next year.
The fastest car for the fastest cyclist
"This is better than testing a new bike" declared Mathieu Van der Poel in front of the brand new Urus S that Lamborghini Antwerp has lent to the Dutch cyclist thanks to the agreement by which he becomes an ambassador of the Italian sports car brand for the next year.
A spectacular vehicle of 300,000 € that breaks with the traditional line of Lamborghini, creating, instead of their classic supercars, a SUV style car that, despite everything, maintains design lines and performance at the height of the rest of Lamborghini models.

In fact, we are facing a vehicle capable of reaching 305 km/h thanks to its 666 hp engine and go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, although Van der Poel assured that he will not squeeze the performance on Flemish roads but will test it on circuits like Zolder or Spa-Francorchamps, explaining that he already has the necessary license to be able to drive on these circuits.
The color chosen by Van der Poel for his Urus S is Grigio Telesto, an iconic gray in Lamborghini's history, rather than other more striking options. "I didn't want to draw too much attention" declared Mathieu. As if that were possible with this vehicle.
Not a bad prize for the Dutch rider, a self-confessed fan of fast cars, after his fantastic spring campaign in which he managed to win no less than two of the monuments: Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix. Now, he rests after this first block of the season to gradually resume training before returning to competition in the Tour de Suisse after which he will face the Tour de France as a prelude to his next big goal of the season, the World Cycling Championships to be held in Glasgow in August.
