Fluckiger injured during training in Lenzerheide
Switzerland's Mathias Fluckiger is one of the favorites to win the XCO World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, but has just announced that he injured his thumb during training on Wednesday and will have to ride with a splint.

After winning less than a week ago the title of Swiss Champion, Mathias Fluckiger arrived at the Lenzerheide circuit as one of the great favorites for the victory. Lenzerheide is a very special event for all Swiss and this year there is also a tense calm since the incident in 2022 between Fluckiger and Schurter.
But the excitement of this edition has just been added to by the news that Fluckiger has injured ligaments in his left thumb and will have to race, if he finally does, with a splint.

This was his announcement:
"Unfortunately, that did not go according to plan. I injured myself in training yesterday, Wednesday, June 7. The immediate medical examination revealed a ligament lesion on the left thumb. Thanks to a specially made splint, I am nevertheless aiming for a start at the home World Cup in Lenzerheide. A first training on the track today makes me optimistic. Fingers crossed."
We all hope that for the sake of the show Fluckiger can not only take the start but also fight to be in front.
