This year could not be less and last week the bidding started for some interesting bikes such as the Cervélo R5, the brand's climber model used during the Tour de France by Sepp Kuss, Jonas Vingegaard, Wout Van Aert, Primoz Roglic, Steven Kruijswijk, Koen Bowman and Tom Dumoulin.
To these have to be added the S5 aerodynamics of Tiejs Benoot, Roglic, Vingegaard, Laporte, Van Hooydonck, Van Aert, or the one used by Marianne Vos in the first edition of the women's Tour de France.
Among the bikes up for bid is the S5 with the green painted fork that Wout Van Aert rode on most of the stages after giving up the yellow jersey he wore during the first week. At the time of writing this article it had already reached the figure of €13,000. Next in the Jumbo-Visma fans' preferences is the R5 that Van Aert rode in the mountain stages, which was valued at €10,000.
It is striking to note the discreet figures for bikes such as those of Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard, whose Cervélo R5 was at €8,000, €7,300 for his S5; or Primoz Roglic's bikes, at around €5,000 each.
Also included in the bidding are the bikes of the current Dutch road champions Pascal Eenkhoorn in the men's category and Riejanne Marckus in the women's category, with the colours of the Dutch flag on the fork, or the last bike used by Tom Dumoulin in his cycling career.
Apart from bikes, Jumbo-Visma is also auctioning several signed jerseys such as a green Tour de France jersey won by Wout Van Aert, which is currently valued at €800; its female counterpart won by Marianne Vos; and the red jersey of La Vuelta, won by Robert Gessink after Jumbo-Visma's victory in the team time trial that started the Spanish round in Utrecht. In addition to these, several Tour de France bibs were auctioned, both the ones on the jersey and the plaques that are placed on the frame of all the team members and which, in the case of the jersey bibs, amount to the not insignificant figure of €420.
According to Jumbo-Visma's own sources, the money raised from these auctions will be used to support its development team and the CyclingClassNL programme, which aims to recruit and support young talent and thus contribute to the future of Dutch cycling.
