New BH Ultralight EVO 2023
The Ultralight, one of BH's most famous models for being a very reactive climber, is updated in 2023, inheriting some of the features of the Aerolight model to incorporate the necessary aerodynamic qualities that any modern competition bike must have.
Aerodynamics and lightness go hand in hand in the new BH Ultralight EVO
A bike that is both lightweight and aerodynamic are often difficult to find in the same machine. The incorporation of profiles designed to reduce wind resistance often results in a greater amount of material that limits how far we can lower the figure on the scales.
However, BH is not afraid of challenges and has decided to evolve its Ultralight EVO climber to improve its performance in the wind, a vital parameter in today's sports bikes that helps to optimise performance when speeds are high, including, in the case of a climbing bike like this one, when facing in competition climbs of not excessively hard percentages where the speed does not go below 20 km/h and aerodynamics also plays an important factor.

The first point that BH has worked on when developing this new BH Ultralight EVO is the frame. BH applies its Hollow Core Internal Molding manufacturing method, which achieves a completely clean interior, with no material remains, as well as maximum carbon compaction, so that the amount of resin and carbon used can be fine-tuned to the maximum without compromising strength.
As a good climbing bike, stiffness is essential to achieve an immediate response to accelerations. For this, BH continues to rely on a BB386 EVO bottom bracket shell, which, we remind you, is suitable for using cranks with a 30 mm axle while maintaining great support with its 86 mm width. Robustness that is reinforced with a generous section chainstay to which the same curvature has been added in the area near the dropouts that the Aerolight version already had, which adds stiffness to the set by building a more compact rear triangle.
Of course, the tubes have a truncated aerodynamic profile, but without increasing their cross-section too much to avoid adding more material than necessary and having to pay a toll in the form of extra grams. A profile that includes the seat tube and the specific D-shaped seatpost, whose closure is integrated into the frame structure to avoid the influence of the wind.
The Air Bow fork also features a unique design, with all of the fork's travel being generated at the head and not at the dropouts, and with an oversized design that increases the clearance to the wheel to minimise the interaction of the turbulent airflow generated by the wheel with the air impinging on the fork legs.
Needless to say, the cable routing is completely internal, guided through the handlebars, stem and headset with the use of an FSA ACR headset, a component brand with which BH has a long history of collaboration, in fact, the aforementioned BB386 EVO bottom bracket is a joint development of both brands.
Also with aerodynamics in mind are the components that BH has developed for this bike, such as a specific bottle cage that is integrated into the profile of the down tube or a storage system in which to carry the necessary tools and spare parts that is integrated below the bottle cage on the bottom bracket, also increasing the aerodynamic qualities of the bike. Although we know that this type of accessory is not allowed in competition, it will help us to achieve a little less wind resistance on our usual routes. BH has even created a small rear light integrated into the profile of the seatpost for this bike.
