Vingegaard returns after his Tour victory
Completely out of cycling since his victory in the Tour de France, Jonas Vingegaard returns to competition today in the CRO Race, the Tour of Croatia which will be held until next Sunday, silencing all the theories about his disappearance.
Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard is back in competition
Overwhelmed by the impact of his Tour de France victory, after which he was greeted by crowds in the streets of Copenhagen, Jonas Vingegaard's head was asking for a complete disconnection from the world of cycling after suffering, in his own words, "a kind of mental bombardment".
This disappearance has given rise to all kinds of rumours and theories, as he did not even take part in the typical tour of criteriums that Tour winners traditionally take part in and which bring them huge profits. He even provoked unrest with the Danish Cycling Federation by not appearing at the Road World Championships, whose presence they were counting on.

A period of recovery, both mental and physical, in which Jonas Vingegaard took a holiday with his family in Croatia and in recent weeks has been training in Mijas, as some spy videos that appeared on social networks have already shown.
Finally, the reigning Tour de France winner will take part in the CRO Race, a category 2.1 stage race that takes place between today and next Sunday on Croatian soil after Jumbo-Visma presented its line-up for this race that also includes the reappearance of cyclist Milan Vader, who suffered a very serious crash during the Itzulia that left him in a coma for two weeks.
The CRO Race is scheduled as a progressive return to competition for Jonas Vingegaard with the target of facing Il Lombardia, the last monument of the season, in full condition and trying to play a good role in this classic.
"I hope my condition is already good enough, I will try to do my best, we will see during this week," said Vingegaard about the CRO Race in a press conference where he regretted not having participated in the Tour of Denmark: "I would have liked to participate in the Tour of Denmark but I realised that I still needed a break. What happens when you win the Tour de France is a kind of mental bombardment. It's very difficult to talk to the media and the fans every day. It's great, but it's also very exhausting."
Jonas Vingegaard has silenced all the rumours surrounding his prolonged disappearance that he was suffering from a serious problem to assimilate the success of the Tour, that he was going through difficult times and some even alluded to the recent case of Tom Dumoulin who made a temporary retirement from cycling because he could not cope with all the pressure he was under and finally ended his cycling career a few months ago.
Rumours that the Danish coach did not help to stop. "We don't understand and we wonder why Vingegaard is not coming to the national team. He has not given any explanation from his side". However, the reappearance in the CRO Race seems to put an end to all speculation.
