Van der Poel pays tribute to his grandfather Poulidor with this kit
With 8 Tour de France podiums and 189 victories to his name, Raymond Poulidor is a cycling legend and the grandfather of Mathieu van der Poel. Unfortunately Poulidor passed away in 2019 and will not be able to see his grandson's Tour de France debut in a few days, but Van der Poel and the entire Alpecin Fenix team wanted to pay tribute to him.

45 years later, the spirit and colours of Raymond Poulidor will once again take the start in the Tour de France. This will be the touching tribute of his grandson Van der Poel, and the entire Alpecin Fenix team, who under the slogan Merci Pou Pou (as Poulidor was nicknamed) have presented a kit very similar to the one worn by his grandfather.
We remember that "Pou Pou" enjoyed his last years watching the birth of the star that his grandson was becoming, and in an interview he even said that Van der Poel was better than him and gave the key reasons why his grandson was so good on the bike. You can read it here.
The jersey, which is priced at 70€, along with other items of the kit can be purchased here.
