Trek unveils its new 32-inch XCO bike with a RockShox fork and will race it this weekend

No more interpreting blurry images or searching for clues in videos. Just hours after announcing that "something big" was about to arrive, Trek has openly showcased its new XCO bike with 32-inch wheels and confirmed that it will debut in competition this weekend at the Soldier Hollow World Cup. And there’s another important update: the bike features a brand new RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant specifically for 32".

During the documentary released for its 50th anniversary, an XC bike with proportions that immediately caught attention could be seen. We then analyzed those images, and everything pointed to Trek developing a dual suspension XCO bike with 32-inch wheels.

Now Trek has put an end to the speculation. The brand has released a video showing a mechanic from Trek Factory Racing assembling the new 32-inch bike that the team will take to Soldier Hollow and that will compete for the first time this weekend at the World Cup. Although it has not yet officially announced a production version, price, geometry, weights, or release date.

What we can see is a carbon dual suspension that retains the architecture that Trek has been developing for XCO. The system uses a single-pivot design with flexing stays and visually maintains a very close relationship with the 29" prototype used during this season.

On the frame shown earlier, Project One could also be read, Trek's customization program, although this alone does not yet confirm what a hypothetical commercial version will be like.

The bike was only part of the mystery. There was another even more interesting aspect to understand how far the development of 32-inch components had come. And here we also see significant updates.

The Trek features the first RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant fork designed for 32-inch wheels. This is the first time we clearly see a SID of this size, and its finish looks very advanced, although RockShox will still need to confirm its specifications and whether there is already a timeline for its commercialization.

We also see that it mounts Bontrager wheels with textile spokes and 32" Pirelli tires, all unprecedented until now.

Evie Richards demonstrates that 32" doesn't have to be just for tall cyclists

Another particularly interesting detail of the project is precisely the choice of Evie Richards to showcase the bike. The British rider is approximately 1.60 meters tall and is already seen riding this platform. This demonstrates, at least in the prototype developed by Trek, that the brand has worked on integrating large wheels into sizes intended for shorter riders.

Many questions remain. Trek has not communicated the final name of the model, travel, weight, geometry, complete configuration, or whether this bike will eventually reach stores. RockShox has also not officially presented its new 32" SID as a commercial product.
