There is a new trophy in the World Cup, it's called The Summit and it will be awarded to the best team of the season
The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series continues to take steps to reinforce the prominence of professional structures. Starting this season, a new award called The Summit will be at stake, a trophy that will recognize the best team of the year in each of the three major disciplines of the circuit: cross-country, downhill, and enduro.
The MTB World Cup will debut a new trophy to reward the best team of the season
Until now, the focus has mainly been on individual titles and overall rankings, but for the first time in the history of the MTB World Cup, there will be a specific award to distinguish the collective work of the teams.
The initiative was presented by Warner Bros. Discovery Sports during the World Cup in Leogang, the first event of the season that simultaneously brings together competitions in cross-country, downhill, and enduro.

The aim of this new trophy is to recognize the fundamental role that teams play in the performance of riders, rewarding not only sports results but also the ability to organize, innovate, and maintain consistency throughout the entire season.
According to the organizers, The Summit aims to highlight the joint work of riders, mechanics, coaches, technical staff, and sports structures that support the high competitive level of the World Cup.
This is how the team classification will be calculated
The classification will be updated after each round of the World Cup and will take into account the results obtained by riders registered in official teams of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series and in UCI MTB teams.
The scoring system will combine the points earned by the four best riders from each team, adding both male and female results.
In downhill and enduro, points obtained in competition will be counted directly, while in cross-country, the classification will combine the results of the Short Track (XCC) and the Olympic Cross-country (XCO).
Additionally, the system will integrate both elite categories and junior and under-23 categories, reinforcing the importance of sports development within each structure.
At the end of the season, the team that accumulates the most points in each discipline will be the winner of The Summit.
A trophy made with sustainable materials
The Summit also stands out for its design. The trophy has been made using sustainable materials such as oak wood, recycled aluminum, recycled carbon fiber from the cycling industry, bio-based PLA, stainless steel, and acrylic.
Its most striking element is a carbon sphere located at the top, inspired by the prestigious Globe trophy awarded to the overall winners of the World Cup.
The first champions of The Summit will be known at the end of the season. The enduro award will be presented in Morillon (France), while the cross-country and downhill trophies will be awarded during the final event of the season in Lake Placid (United States).
