The CX World Cup comes to Dublin: schedules, favorites, how to watch
The intense 2024/24 Cyclocross World Cup calendar continues next Sunday, December 1st, with the second of the 12 races that make up this year's schedule, taking the action to Dublin. A race that coincides with the start of the marathon of races that characterizes the month of December, where the regulars of the discipline will try to accumulate as many points as possible and, why not, some partial victories before the entry of Van der Poel, Van Aert, and Pidcock, for which a date has not yet been defined.
Iserbyt and Van Empel, cyclists to beat in the Dublin CX World Cup race
After the first race held a few days ago in Antwerp, the action continues in the Cyclocross World Cup. This time it's Dublin's turn. Dublin will host this second event on Sunday, December 1st, with some slight modifications to the usual race schedules to compensate for the one-hour difference with the CET time zone that applies in continental Europe.

As we mentioned in the first race, although Eurosport is responsible for broadcasting the CX World Cup, it is only accessible to subscribers of the Max platform, where the channel has been integrated since last summer. In countries where Eurosport is not available, the UCI YouTube channel is in charge of the broadcast, which obviously has location restrictions. However, the race summary can be enjoyed on the YouTube channel in the following days.
Favorites for the Dublin CX World Cup race
After his resounding victory in Antwerp, Eli Iserbyt is undoubtedly the one to watch. Not only for winning the race but also for showing total dominance, controlling the race tempo to know exactly when to make his move.
As seen in previous races, Michael Vanthourenhout and Laurens Sweeck showed excellent form and put up a good fight, making them clear contenders for victory in this second CX World Cup race. We must also not forget about Niels Vandeputte, who showed great competitiveness although he faded towards the end of the race.
Sven Nys had a discreet performance in Antwerp, but the class of the Belgian and his form at the start of the season, as the current European Champion, also make him a contender. The reappearance of riders like Lars Van der Haar or Pin Ronhaar among the top positions was surprising, as they had not been prominent at the start of the season but showed up when it mattered.
However, CX World Cup races are a different story, with the duration always pushed to the limit. In Antwerp, the winner's race lasted almost 59 minutes, requiring more effort than in other races where judges tend to reduce the number of laps instead of increasing them, as seen in Antwerp where some riders found the race too long. Combined with the level of equality seen, the outcome is truly uncertain, at least until a couple more races are completed.
On the women's side, Fem van Empel's victory was even more decisive, with the season's dominant rider, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, unable to put up a fight.
