Sagan returns to the road with the Pierre Baguette Team and confirms that his goal is still the Olympics
Having apparently overcome his arrhythmia problems, which led him to undergo surgery, Peter Sagan continues with his preparation for his participation in the XCO event at the Paris Olympic Games, his main goal for this season. To get in shape, the Slovak will take part in the Tour of Hungary, which starts tomorrow, as part of the continental team Pierre Baguette.
Peter Sagan does not give up on being at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
Despite the heart problems he suffered a few months ago, Peter Sagan continues to fight to be able to participate in the XCO race at the Paris Olympics, something that, as of today, is extremely difficult after missing the first World Cup events and being in great need of points to secure his spot, although it is also not ruled out that, as happened in 2016, Sagan may secure a spot through other channels.
In any case, the break in his preparation caused by his heart problems has led him to have to restart his season, so, seeking to fine-tune his form, Peter Sagan has included the Tour of Hungary, a 2.Pro category road stage race, the second level behind the World Tour races.

Sagan will race as part of the continental team Pierre Baguette, a squad in which his brother Juraj Sagan competes with a single goal "I am going to race to accumulate competition kilometers, which I hope will help me improve. I have no expectations of achieving results" explained the Slovak cyclist at the press conference prior to the start of the race.
This will be Peter Sagan's return to road competition after officially retiring from this discipline at the end of last season to become an ambassador for Specialized with the goal of competing in mountain biking this season in order to be able to compete in the Olympic event.
Sagan also spoke about his heart problems, which caused him to suffer arrhythmias that raised his heart rate above 200 beats per minute, leading him to undergo two interventions to solve them "The doctors told me to stop so that nothing would happen because if something happened, the recovery would be much longer. I have been a month without riding a bike. I was supposed to have raced with the Pierre Baguette team in a couple of races. The doctors said there was nothing else to do, I am 99% healthy, I just have to get in shape".
