To the known casualties of Loana Lecomte, Pauline Ferrand Prevot and Evie Richards, we had to add the last minute absence of Jenny Rissveds, due to a sore throat. Something that predicted an even more open race than we are used to this season.
The first surprise of the Short Track was given by the French Lena Gerault, who took the first position from the very start and tried to open a gap on lap 1, out of a total of 8.

But Australia's Rebecca McConnel soon jumped from behind to catch Gerault and restore the group of favorites at the head of the race.
McConnell lost the overall lead a week ago in Snowshoe and in Canada she was proving that her only goal was to regain it. But the Swiss Alessandra Keller, current leader, was not going to make it easy for her and with 2 laps to go both were alternating the first place followed by a number of other favorites, such as Gwendalyn Gibson, Jolanda Neff, Kate Courtney or Anne Terpstra.
The attacks did not stop happening when the last lap started, and after a powerful change of pace by Alessandra Keller, Jolanda Neff was able to respond with a final overtaking her compatriot that left her in first position a few meters from the finish line. Everything happened in an agonizing and long sprint.
Jolanda Neff took the victory of the Mont-Sainte-Anne 2022 XCC World Cup.
Gwendalyn Gibson took second place and Alessandra Keller closed the podium.
