Orbea Wild 2023: a new reference in electric Enduro

The new Orbea Wild 2023 arrives on the Enduro eBike market with the firm task of transcending. With a price starting at €5,699, and aside from its powerful motor and high-capacity battery, the new Wild has been redesigned with the sole purpose of offering the best performance on the trails. Stiffer, lighter and with more flow than ever before.

The new Orbea Wild 2023 transcends today's standards to put the focus on riding

The previous version of the Orbea Wild was released in 2020. A model that has been highly valued by the public and that has achieved great victories together with the Orbea FOX Enduro Team in the E-Enduro World Series. This could have led Orbea to follow an evolution with small modifications for continuity, but this has not been the case.

The Mallabia-based brand has studied current trends and asked riders to offer a new concept in which riding and experience on the bike are essential.

Fully integrated battery, the first step towards maximum performance

As we said, riding and manoeuvrability were Orbea's starting point and objective when developing the new Wild 2023. And to achieve this they needed a strong base, the frame, on which to project the new geometry, kinematics and electrical system.

They soon discovered that frame designs with openings or cut-outs for battery removal had a negative effect on the performance of the set-up and above all on the stiffness of the frame. So the first decision was to opt for a frame with an integrated battery and made of OMR carbon.

As a result, the new Orbea Wild 2023 is 51% stiffer than its previous version and 32.5% lighter. The overall weight stays under 21 kg for a high-performance carbon enduro frame with similar performance to Orbea's non-electrified enduro, the Rallon.

All versions of the Wild offer a lifetime warranty on the frame and a choice of two battery options: 750Wh or 625Wh. 

Orbea Wild 2023 offers more stability and control: new geometry 

To achieve the same sensations as with a conventional Enduro MTB, the geometry of the new Orbea Wild has been modified and now shares some of the measurements of the aforementioned Rallon, but optimised for riding an e-bike.

This new version offers sharper angles and is longer than ever for more stability and control. The steering angle is now 64° and the reach is 450mm in size M, 25mm more than the Wild 2020.

For the steepest and most technical climbs, the Orbea Wild 2023 has a more vertical saddle angle of 77.5° and the shortest chainstays in its class, 448mm in all sizes.

Thanks to the Steep' N' Deep concept, also inherited from the Rallon, the new Wild can be fitted with long travel dropper seatposts in all sizes. Seatposts up to 310mm for size S and 350mm for size XL.

In addition, Orbea now offers four sizes of the Wild that riders can choose from depending on their height or riding style. So, for example, riders of 1.75m will be happy to choose a size S Wild if they are looking for the most agile Enduro eBike possible.

 

Optimised suspension

The Orbea Wild 2023 has also updated its kinematics. With 29" wheels, 160 mm rear travel and the option of 160 or 170 mm forks, Orbea's engineers have updated its leverage ratio curve to optimise the suspension system.

 

Compared to the 2020 version there are noticeable changes in the mid travel and the new Wild offers more supportiveness than its predecessor. Also the final part of the travel now offers more progressivity and therefore more control in strong compressions.

The entire new Orbea Wild range includes air shocks (FOX FLOAT X2, X and DPS) but their progressive nature makes them compatible with spring shocks.

BOSCH SMART MY23 system and high-capacity batteries in all sizes

As we have already mentioned, the Orbea Wild 2023 is equipped with the new Bosch Smart electric systems with the powerful PERFORMANCE Line CX and Line CX RACE motors of up to 85 Nm. This is the leading system for ebikes in this category and it is worth remembering that the podium at the last eMTB World Championships featured only Bosch motors.

The Bosch CX Performance Line motor is available across the new Wild range, but Orbea is one of the few brands to offer the limited edition Bosch CX Performance Line Race motor. Bosch's sportiest motor offers a high-end racing experience with an exclusive Race mode and a 200g saving over the Bosch CX Performance Line. This motor can be found in the Wild M LTD.

The system is completed by a minimalist remote control on the handlebars and an integrated controller on the top tube that allows us to check the remaining battery life.

 

The Wild will be available with 650Wh and 750Wh batteries, with both versions available in all sizes, including the S size, which can be fitted with the longer range battery.

Full integration

At first glance, the aesthetics of the new Wild 2023 look more elegant thanks to the clean lines of its silhouette. But that attractive appearance also serves a practical function, such as avoiding distractions when riding or making the package more robust by making it simpler and more compact.

 

Orbea's new internal cable routing, the SIC System, together with Bosch's cable-free remote control have allowed the new Wild to have a completely clean cockpit while eliminating noise. The brand ensures that maintenance and replacement of any component, such as stem, handlebars, etc., remains as simple as ever.

 

There are no cables in the bottom bracket area either, they have been completely integrated into the frame and the charging port, located in the bottom bracket area, has been redesigned for easier use.

Another important detail is the Spin Block handlebar lock. This ensures that the handlebars cannot damage the frame in the event of a crash or fall.

The Orbea Wild is also available in aluminium

In a complete range of up to 7 models, the new Orbea Wild will also be available with 3 aluminium options.

The aluminium frame includes all the technology of the carbon versions but at a more affordable price.

As usual at Orbea, the MyO customisation program will also be available for the new Wild. So, apart from the catalogue, anyone will be able to configure their ideal model by choosing from different component options and selecting a different and unique look.

The Orbea Wild 2023 range has 7 models ranging from €5,699 to €11,999 and will be available from the beginning of 2023. But with the Rider Connect service it is already possible to reserve it.
