New Orbea Laufey 2024: an affordable trail that embraces fun over the stopwatch
Orbea presents the renewed version of the Laufey. The model retains the 140 mm fork and the possibility of mounting tyres up to 2.6". The main change is in the geometry: longer chainstays, a steeper head angle and a more vertical saddle angle. The Laufey 2024 is available now and starts at 1,499 euros.
The new Orbea Laufey 2024 has a new geometry to enhance fun
Orbea has launched an evolution of the Laufey which, despite presenting some changes, retains many of the characteristics of its predecessor. This is a hardtail trail bike that moves away from the complex world of competition to prioritise fun for both those who are new to pedalling and those who have already put a lot of kilometres on their quads.
The Orbea Laufey 2024 features a 140 mm fork that helps you stay in the saddle in tricky situations. Steep'n'Deep technology accommodates a long-travel dropper post for easier manoeuvrability and more space for the rider on descents.

Geometry is one of the Laufey 2024's most updated features. Orbea claims that it conveys "safety and offers fun" on trails that are normally suitable for a full. Translated into the language of numbers, the head angle of 64.5° is now more relaxed - compared to the previous 65.5° - and the saddle angle is verticalised to 77° - previously 75°.
The chainstays have been lengthened slightly to 440 mm, up from 435 mm on the previous version.
Another highlight of the Laufey 2024 is its pronounced sloping; something that, together with the advantage of being able to install a long travel dropper post, provides a lot of space and manoeuvrability.
The search for a balance between stiffness-absorption has resulted in a head tube and down tube that provide stiffness, while vibration absorption and damping of large impacts is provided by the rear triangle and top tube.
The frame is aluminium with double or triple butted tubes. Orbea has placed emphasis on design, built to reduce weight wherever possible.
The Laufey 2024 has internal cable routing along the downtube and chainstays, is compatible with chain guides and comes with Lockr compatibility for two watertight pouches on the downtube. Another positive aspect - already present on the previous Laufey - is the option to mount up to 2.6" tyres.
In addition, Orbea offers a lifetime warranty.
