Nino Schurter is testing something new on SRAM's AXS controller
A few months ago the SRAM Eagle Transmission was introduced, which Nino Schurter himself helped test and develop. This groupset included a new, more configurable and ergonomic AXS Controller, but we've seen Schurter resist its use in competition and continue to opt for the previous version, until now.
Nino Schurter tests a new push-button controller in Val di Sole
One of the great presentations this year was the new SRAM Eagle Transmission, a complete groupset that has marked a new path for mountain bike drivetrains and will surely soon reach other modes. With it also came the new AXS Pod that changed its aesthetics, was more configurable and was recognizable by clearly delimiting the two buttons unlike the previous generation.
But for some reason, Nino Schurter decided to continue racing with the previous model until the Val di Sole World Cup. It was in Italy that we saw that his Spark, in addition to the new Flight Attendant electronic suspension that only he is testing, was fitted with a different controller.
The controller Nino is testing looks like the new AXS Pod but with a modification that turns the two buttons into a single operable surface.

Of course this is a minor modification to his Spark and we don't know if it addresses a specific need that Schurter may have or if it will eventually be a component or upgrade that makes it to market.
