SRAM introduces new Eagle Transmision groupsets: specifications, models and prices
It has been 6 years since SRAM first introduced its Eagle groupsets and for the last 11 years they have been dedicated to single chainring drivetrains. Now, they present a revolutionary new groupset that will set new standards, it is called SRAM Eagle Transmission and comes with three new very robust and integrated electronic groupsets that dispense with the derailleur hanger and adjustment screws. Crankset, cassette, chainring, power meter, controller, chain and rear derailleur, everything is new and here we tell you about it.
- Key features of the new SRAM Eagle Transmission groupsets
- New SRAM Eagle direct mount derailleurs
- SRAM EAGLE cassettes, lighter and with greater durability
- SRAM Eagle Flattop Chain
- SRAM AXS Pod controller: more ergonomic and adjustable
- Eagle Transmission cranksets and chainrings
- SRAM Eagle integrated power meters

Key features of the new SRAM Eagle Transmission groupsets
Virtually everything is new in the SRAM Eagle Transmission ecosystem and before we look at what's new in each component, let's take a look at the most important key features of these new drivetrains.
- Everything is centered around a new front derailleur anchored directly to the frame by means of the Full Mount hangerless system.
- The derailleur is presented as super-strong and more robust, reliable and lightweight
- The performance of the shift under load promises to be unprecedented
- Three groupsets: Eagle Transmission XX SL (superlight), Eagle XX and Eagle X0 (maximum robustness).
- AXS wireless electronic technology
- New 10-52 cassettes with optimized performance
- New lighter and more ergonomic controller
- New chainring protectors for XX and X0
- Full compatibility with E-MTB for XX and X0
- New chain with Flattop technology
- New power meter options
- 2650€ is the price for the complete Eagle XX SL groupset without integrated power meter and 3250€ with power meter.
New SRAM Eagle direct mount derailleurs
It can be said that the derailleur is the key part of the new SRAM Eagle Transmission and it is so because of its innovative design concept that now dispenses with the derailleur hanger to be mounted around the wheel axle itself. This results in a more robust, compact, lighter and easier to set up because it does not require an adjustment screw.
We haven't said it yet but to mount this derailleur it is necessary that the frame is compatible with the UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) system and if you need to check it, in this SRAM search engine you can do it.

The first question that usually arises when you see the new SRAM Eagle Transmission derailleur is what happens in case of a crash and it bends or breaks. To which the brand has simply replied that while other derailleurs can bend the hanger generating a multitude of mechanical problems or accidents, the new Eagle Transmission is so robust that you can continue pedaling and shifting in the same way after an impact.
In addition, this version maintains the successful clutch system (Overload Clutch) that disconnects the mechanism in case of impact, protecting the gearbox. A very proven system and we can confirm that it is able to withstand the hardest shocks and impacts.
The derailleur includes in the lower pulley what SRAM calls the Magic Wheel, which is able to keep turning even when it gets stuck on a rock, branch, etc.
SRAM Eagle Transmission derailleur prices, weights and models
There will be three derailleur models. The XX SL, made of aluminum and carbon, is the lightest, the XX does without carbon parts in its structure, has an elegant aluminum finish and adds 25 g to the SL version. Finally, the X0 series is the most robust of the three and is designed for more aggressive riding.
- XX SL Eagle Transmission Derailleur - 440g - 700€ /695£/650$
- XX Eagle Transmission Derailleur - 465g - 700€ /695£/650$
- X0 Eagle Transmission Derailleur - 475g - 660€ /595£/660$
SRAM EAGLE cassettes, lighter and with greater durability
If we said that the derailleur is the star component of the new SRAM EAGLE TRANSMISSION, the truth is that the new cassettes are the 'guilty' of the great performance promised by this drivetrain and of its good operation under load.
XX Eagle SL Transmission Cassette 12-speed 10-52T
SRAM claims that thanks to the X-Sync design of the new XX SL Transmission cassette, the harder you pedal, the better it shifts. This XX SL version is the lightest cassette in SRAM's history and they have achieved this while making it more durable and offering more precision.
The cassette is composed of a fully machined hardened steel X Dome pyramid comprising gears 4-12 and an ultra-lightweight aluminum Spider Cog for gears 1-3. It offers a huge 520% gear range, but now from the 52-tooth cog it steps down with improved gear progression with 44- and 38-tooth cogs on the low end (compared to the 10-52-tooth cassette of the Eagle drivetrain).
- SRAM's lightest 10-52T cassette to date
- Optimized gear steps on low end
- 55mm chainline compatibility for more moderate chain angle, longer wear and greater precision
- Weight 345g
- Price 720€ /645£/600$
XX Eagle Transmission Cassette 12-speed 10-52T
- Steel + aluminum
- Optimized gear steps on low end
- 55mm chainline compatibility for more moderate chain angle, longer wear and greater precision
- Weight 380g
- Price 660€ /590£/550$
X0 Eagle Transmission Cassette 12-speed 10-52T
- Steel + aluminum
- Optimized gear steps on low end
- 55mm chainline compatibility for more moderate chain angle, longer wear and greater precision
- Weight 380g
- Price 480 € /430£/400$
SRAM Eagle Flattop Chain
Another major innovation is the incorporation into the transmission of the Flattop technology already used by SRAM in its road range.
The Flattop chain is completely flat on top to maximize shifting performance and robustness, and raises the strength-to-weight ratio to an unprecedented level.
XX Eagle SL Transmission FLATTOP CHAIN
- Weight 240g
- Price 180€ /160£/150$
XX Eagle Transmission FLATTOP CHAIN
- Weight 247g
- Price 150€ /135£/125$
X0 Eagle Transmission FLATTOP CHAIN
- Weight 256g
- Price 120€ /105£/100$
SRAM AXS Pod controller: more ergonomic and adjustable
Radical change also for the AXS electronic controller. The new Pod is lighter, more ergonomic and adjustable than ever.
It weighs only 48g and now features a two-button push-action design that makes it more intuitive. It can be mounted on either the right or left side and offers great configurability in terms of positions and buttons can be customized from the AXS mobile app.
- AXS Pod Controller - 48g - 180€ /160£/150$
This AXS Pod is compatible with earlier versions of AXS transmissions.
Eagle Transmission cranksets and chainrings
The new Eagle Transmission groupsets also feature new cranksets with a new and sophisticated design that really give a unique look to this drivetrain. Although apart from the design, lightness and stiffness are still their main features and maintain the DUB standard.
XX SL Eagle CRANKSET
Available in three versions, the Eagle Transmission XX SL DUB crankset remains the lightest thanks to the evolution of the standard and its hollow-core carbon construction. This allows it to remain the lightest ISO-certified crank on the market.
