The trickle of new Van Rysel products continues, the most select range of bicycles from Decathlon. This time, it's the turn of gravel with the arrival of, not one electric gravel, but two new assisted models for this modality, a first one with a seemingly more recreational orientation while the second, which already appears on their website, proposes a sporty e-gravel.

Electric gravels arrive at the Decathlon catalog

Apart from the exclusive titanium gravel with carbon fittings, the Velofollies salon recently held in the Belgian city of Kortrijk left us another couple of interesting novelties in the form of an electric gravel model.

These additions join the whole set of products that Van Rysel is incorporating into its catalog due to the landing of the brand in the sponsorship of Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale, such as its new aerodynamic road helmet or the new RCR Pro glasses, both products that will be tested during the 2024 season by the riders of the French team.

But let's go back to the electric gravels, with the two models that Van Rysel presented at the Belgian fair. The first of them, is the Van Rysel E-GRVL AF MD, a robust electric gravel with an aluminum frame and a central motor, specifically, a Brose T Mag capable of providing 70 Nm of torque and with a large 500 Wh battery. It will come equipped with SRAM Apex XPLR 12v and is expected to be available in a few weeks. Although it is not confirmed, a price around 3,500 € is mentioned.

Despite not knowing more data than what the images of this bike provide, the concept of it seems to be more recreational use and long-distance routes given the great autonomy expected from a battery of that caliber.

The other new electric gravel model is the Van Rysel E-GRVL AF X35, this one, already available on the Decathlon website at a price of 2,899.99 €. In this case, looking for an electric gravel bike with more sporty sensations and handling, the subtle assistance of the Malhe X35 motor located in the rear hub has been chosen. A guarantee of minimum weight contribution and conventional bike sensations but also with the just assistance that the Malhe X35 adds.

In this case, being a lighter system with less assistance capacity, 40 Nm of maximum torque, it is satisfied with a 250 Wh capacity battery, a combination that, according to Mahle data, is enough to travel 100 km, autonomy that we can extend thanks to the external battery that we can locate in one of its bottle holders and that allows to reach up to 180 km traveled.

This electric gravel is built on a 6061 T6 aluminum frame and comes equipped with SRAM Apex, in this case its mechanical version of 11v and single-chainring transmission. A bike designed to delve into the wildest side of gravel thanks to the Hutchinson Touareg tires in 700x45c size that will allow you to ride practically any terrain with the plus of electric assistance when things get complicated.
