New Canyon Lux World Cup 2023: lighter than ever and with improved geometry
We had already seen it riding on the World Cup circuits, but it was kept a secret until now. Canyon has just officially presented the new Lux World Cup. It is their flagship model in the mountain bike catalog and comes with a low weight record and new geometry.
New Canyon Lux World Cup 2023: record lightest weight, new geometry and ready to win it all
The Canyon Lux is one of the most successful mountain bikes of recent years and has won World Championships, European Championships, XCO World Cup races and some of the most important XCM competitions on the international scene. So improving on the record of its predecessor is a complicated task for which the Lux World Cup 2023 seems ready.
Lighter than ever
The brand presents this new Canyon Lux World Cup as the lightest full suspension mountain bike on the market and claims to have improved its climbing and downhill qualities. To do this they have lowered the weight achieving increased stiffness and strength while they have updated its geometry.
This is a full suspension mountain bike with 100 mm travel front and rear, and in its lightest version the frame weighs in at 1,535 grams. Canyon points out that it is 127 g lighter than the previous version and that it is probably the lightest full suspension mountain bike frame on the market.

The weight reduction does not compromise the endurance of the new frame and in fact the Lux World Cup has improved stiffness and durability, so much so that it now meets the standards of Canyon's Trail models.
The CFR model uses the lightest carbon in its construction to achieve the 1,535 kg mentioned above, while the CF model weighs 1,925 kg while maintaining the same qualities of stiffness and strength.
Updated geometry
At first glance the new Lux 2023 is very similar to its predecessor version, only the integration of the cabling and the shape of the rear triangle is what stands out the most. But in terms of geometry it has undergone a major upgrade.
The position of the shock and linkage has been slightly modified and the kinematics and anti-squat values have been improved. This, together with its weight reduction, makes it a more efficient uphill and downhill bike.
The new geometry features a 15 mm increase in reach in all sizes and a steering angle that now stands at 68.5º, 1.5 degrees less than the previous model. This combination, together with a shorter stem, offers greater control and stability on the new Lux World Cup.
The chainstays have been shortened by 5 mm in all sizes, the seat angle has been raised by 0.5° and the seat tube has been shortened by 10 mm. These changes ensure that the bike is more agile and climbing on technical terrain, as well as offering the opportunity to mount longer dropper seatposts.
Double water bottle in all sizes and CeramicSpeed bearings
For the CFR models, Canyon has included CeramicSpeed SLT brand bearings, a premium feature that ensures quality and reliability at all pivot points and in the steering. These bearings are maintenance-free and come with a lifetime warranty.
As already mentioned, the Canyon Lux World Cup is a perfect mountain bike for marathon and stage races, and another sign of this is that its frame can hold two water bottles in all sizes, including XS.
