Swiss Sport Integrity informed the Swiss federation that Mathias Flückiger tested positive for zeranol, a banned anabolic substance. The test was carried out on 5 June at the Swiss Championships in Leysin, where Fluckiger became national champion.
Mathias Fluckiger had not raced since he won the Val di Sole Short Track, was knocked out by Covid and then decided to skip the World Cup events at Snowshoe and Saint-Mont-Anne in order to prepare well for the last part of the season.
Fluckiger, the reigning Olympic runner-up, was the Swiss national team's favourite for tomorrow's European Championships, but his main target was the World Championships in Les Gets next week.
