Lapierre confirms the end of its XCO team due to a lack of liquidity: Les Gets was its final race

We already knew about the disappearance of the Lapierre PXR Racing, but now Cycles Lapierre has explained that it is suspending the funding of its World Cup team due to serious liquidity problems. This decision immediately ends the team and leaves Les Gets as the last race contested by the structure.

The confirmation comes about two weeks after Anne Terpstra announced her retirement and hinted that the Lapierre PXR Racing would not continue. Now it is the company itself that explains the economic reasons that have led to the halt of the competition program.

Lapierre stops funding the PXR Racing

Cycles Lapierre acknowledges that it is going through a financial situation that requires immediate measures to conserve cash. Among them is the suspension of funds allocated to the Lapierre PXR Racing.

This is not a decision related to results.

Lapierre emphasizes that riders and staff have maintained a high sporting level and cites Nicole Koller as an example, who finished fourth in the 2026 XCC World Cup standings.

The measure affects Nicole Koller, Anne Terpstra, Caroline Bohé, Anton Cooper, and Tobias Lillelund, as well as all the workers of the structure.

The company openly acknowledges that it is facing an immediate liquidity restriction and that, under these circumstances, it must review all expenses that are not essential to ensure the continuity of the business.

The priorities now are to protect employment, maintain core operations, serve customers and distributors, sustain after-sales service, and advance in the search for a new investor. The competition program is outside of those priorities.

Les Gets was the team's last race

The decision means the premature end of the season for the Lapierre PXR Racing. The Les Gets World Cup was their last race, and the team will not be present at the upcoming events on the calendar.

Lapierre explains in its statement the high cost of maintaining a World Cup structure. It is not only about registrations but also about travel, accommodation, logistics, technical assistance, personnel, and all other operational expenses associated with each race.

In the current situation, the company believes it cannot authorize new disbursements for competition while needing to preserve its resources to maintain business activity. Therefore, the team is stopping in the middle of the season.

A direct consequence of the crisis facing Lapierre

The sporting decision cannot be understood without the business situation that the company is experiencing.

As we already reported, Accell Group entered into suspension of payments after failing to close a solution that would guarantee the continuity of the group, owner of brands such as Lapierre, Ghost, Haibike, Winora, Batavus, or Raleigh.

The situation subsequently forced the French company to take its own measures. Lapierre requested a judicial reorganization procedure in France with the aim of maintaining its activity while seeking a new investor.

Lapierre does not formally declare the PXR Racing dissolved

There is an important nuance in the official statement. Cycles Lapierre does not announce the legal dissolution of the team, but rather the suspension of its funding.

The contractual, legal, and sporting consequences are being studied directly with the management of the structure, riders, workers, and advisors.

Lapierre also leaves open the possibility of recovering a competition program in the future, although it sets important conditions for that to happen.

First, it would have to find a new investor to stabilize the company's situation. Then, it would be necessary to secure a specific and sustainable budget for the sports project.

Currently, there is no date for that hypothetical return.

The company also insists that this is not a strategic decision to definitively abandon elite sports. Lapierre continues to consider competition important for product development and brand visibility, but any future presence will depend on the business solution that is found.

The end of a historic XCO structure

Although the name Lapierre PXR Racing has barely been present during this season, behind it is a structure with a long history in the World Cup.

The project had competed for years linked to Ghost, and the change to Lapierre essentially meant a sponsor change within the Accell Group universe. The sports structure continued to be practically the same.

Anne Terpstra particularly symbolizes that continuity. The Dutch rider remained linked to the project for nearly a decade under the colors of Ghost and continued in it this season with Lapierre.

With the funding suspended, Les Gets stands as the last race of the Lapierre PXR Racing. A historic XCO structure thus halts its activity in the middle of the season while Lapierre fights a much more important battle outside the circuits: finding the investor that will ensure the company's own continuity.
