France will start as the top favorite for the Olympic gold in women's and men's events

The French Federation has just announced its selection of MTB for the 2024 Paris Olympics and it confirms what was already known, they are the top favorites for the gold medal in both women's and men's categories.

Fortunately, the XCO world is in good health and we cannot ignore that Switzerland and France continue to be the two great powers in this sport currently. And this is evident when both countries send their teams to events like the upcoming Paris Olympics.

If a few weeks ago it was Switzerland presenting the members who will defend their flag in Paris, now it's France's turn. And both for being the host of this edition and for having two of the top favorites for the title, it is confirmed that they will be the top favorites on July 28 and 29.

The announced members are Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Loana Lecomte for the women's race, and Victor Koretzky and Jordan Sarrou for the men's race.

The current world champion Ferrand-Prevot can be considered the best XCO cyclist currently and arrives in Paris with the motivation to win the only title missing in a discipline where she has won everything. In addition, this will be her last chance to win it as she has already announced that she will leave mountain biking after these Olympics.

In the men's category, Victor Koretzky won the Olympic Test last year and this season has shown signs of being in perhaps the best form of his sporting career. He has never hidden that behind everything is the motivation to win gold in Paris.

On the other hand, Loana Lecomte, who won the Olympic Test a year ago, and Jordan Sarrou seem to be in the background during this early season, but it could be just part of their preparation for Paris, and in any case, both know how to win a World Cup race or even a World Championship with authority and without giving their rivals a chance.
