Felix Gall signs with Lidl-Trek through 2029 and brings Gregor Mühlberger with him

Lidl-Trek continues to strengthen its roster for the upcoming seasons and has just announced the addition of two Austrian climbers who are joining the team together. Felix Gall has signed until the end of 2029 and Gregor Mühlberger until 2028, thus extending a sporting relationship that they also maintain outside of competition as good friends.

The two riders come from Decathlon-CMA CGM and will land at Lidl-Trek after a particularly outstanding 2026 season. The most important signing is Felix Gall, 28, who has definitively established himself as one of the men capable of fighting for the podium in the grand tours.

The Austrian finished 2026 on the podium of both the Giro d'Italia and La Vuelta a España, confirming the progression he started with his breakthrough in the 2023 Tour de France. Lidl-Trek is bringing him on board with a three-season contract and the intention of continuing to develop him as a leader for the general classification.

Andy Schleck, the team's CEO, believes that Gall still has room to grow after establishing himself among the best stage racers.

"In 2026, Felix has shown that he belongs to the elite, establishing himself as a true podium candidate in the grand tours. But we believe there is still much more to come," explains Schleck.

Gall was the junior world champion in road cycling in Richmond 2015 and subsequently developed much of his professional career in the structures now known as Picnic-PostNL and Decathlon-CMA CGM. He will now take on a new project with Lidl-Trek.

"With Lidl-Trek, a new chapter in my career as a professional cyclist begins. After wonderful years and the successes that came with them, it is time to take the next logical step," explains Gall, highlighting the team's resources and standards as one of the reasons for making the change.

Mühlberger arrives as a mountain domestique with his own options

Alongside Gall, Gregor Mühlberger, 32, also joins, a rider with over a decade of professional experience and a particularly valuable profile as a mountain domestique.

Mühlberger joined Decathlon-CMA CGM in 2026 specifically to share a team with Gall after previously being with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe and Movistar Team. Now both will change structures together again.

His season has also served to demonstrate that he can combine work for his leaders with his own results. He was an important domestique during the Giro d'Italia, where he also finished 15th in the general classification, and subsequently won the Lidl Tour of Austria with authority.

"Gregor brings enormous experience, but also qualities that all teams value: loyalty, commitment, and a willingness to give everything for those around him," notes Schleck.

Mühlberger himself explains that his goal will continue to be to work for the leaders in the major races while not giving up the opportunity to seize his own chances when they arise.

"For me, the important thing is to support the team's leaders at the highest level and, at the same time, have the opportunity to compete for my own results," he assures.

With these two additions, Lidl-Trek significantly strengthens its mountain and grand tour block. Gall arrives as a proven rider to fight for the overall standings, while Mühlberger brings experience and the ability to support the leaders in the most demanding stages.
