New Orbea Oiz 2027: stiffer, faster, and ready for modern XC
After making its appearance in the World Cup circuits, Orbea has presented the new generation of the Oiz, a bicycle that maintains its DNA but evolves with a completely new frame. The Basque brand defines this new Orbea Oiz 2027 as the result of three years of development where the goal was to increase overall performance without compromising weight or efficiency.

New Orbea Oiz 2027: Total Renewal
The new Oiz arrives with a completely redesigned frame, revised suspension, updated geometry, and numerous structural changes aimed at improving stiffness, handling precision, and capability on the most technical World Cup circuits.

Although visually it maintains a recognizable silhouette, the new Oiz is a completely new bicycle.

The development has focused on finding the balance between two factors that usually conflict: increasing structural stiffness while maintaining a competitive weight. To achieve this, all critical areas of the frame have been redesigned using extensive finite element analysis (FEA), optimizing both shapes and manufacturing processes.

One of the most important changes appears in the bottom bracket area. Thanks to the optimization of carbon lamination and joining processes, Orbea claims to have reduced material in this area while maintaining levels of strength and structural stiffness.
Aluminum Linkage
The suspension linkage is also completely new. It is now made of forged aluminum instead of carbon and features strategic cutouts that have allowed them to reduce its weight by approximately 30%, according to the brand, compared to the previous generation while increasing the stiffness of the assembly.

The structure also incorporates a new bridge between the stays to keep the rear triangle aligned under load and improve precision when the bicycle receives strong impacts or is subjected to high stresses.
Powerspine: the backbone of the new Oiz
One of the most relevant structural solutions is the so-called Powerspine.
It is a structure that runs along the bottom of the frame from the head tube to the bottom bracket and whose function is to improve power transfer. According to Orbea, this area is particularly important during explosive efforts such as accelerations, sprints, or changes of pace, where any loss of stiffness can translate into a loss of performance.

The top tube has also been redesigned with structural fins that increase the torsional strength of the assembly, while the chainstays and seatstays have been optimized to increase stability in technical areas without penalizing the final weight.

120 mm as standard and 130 mm option in front
The new Oiz maintains a configuration of 120 mm of travel both front and rear, a figure that has already become a standard for competitive XC.
However, Orbea offers the possibility of mounting a 130 mm fork for those looking for a behavior closer to downcountry or facing particularly technical trails.

The kinematics continue to use a regressive curve with high initial support. This allows to reduce sag during pedaling and limit suspension bobbing when the shock absorber works in the open position.
To control the final progression of the travel, a small-volume shock absorber is used that helps avoid harsh bottoming out without sacrificing sensitivity in the first part of the travel.
More modern and stable geometry
The geometry changes are relatively contained on paper.

The chainstays are reduced from 432 mm to 430 mm, favoring faster acceleration and greater reactivity.
The head angle changes from 67° to 66.8°, a slightly more aggressive figure that improves stability at high speeds and control on technical descents.
Meanwhile, the seat tube adopts a more vertical position to place the rider more centered over the bottom bracket, improving efficiency and traction on steep climbs.
The complete geometry is configured with:
- Head angle: 66.8°
- Seat angle: between 76.6° and 77° depending on size
- Reach: from 425 mm to 495 mm
- Chainstays: 430 mm in all sizes
- Rear travel: 120 mm
- Compatibility with 120 or 130 mm fork
I-Line and Squidlock Technology
The new Oiz retains two of Orbea's most recognizable technologies. The first is I-Line, the patented system that guides the suspension lock cable through the top tube to the shock absorber, eliminating tight bends and reducing system friction.
The second is the well-known Squidlock, which integrates the control of the dropper post and the three suspension positions via a compact control designed to be operated without removing the hand from the handlebar.
Only 1,700 grams for the OMX frame
The obsession with lightness remains a priority in the new Oiz. The OMX frame, Orbea's top carbon, claims a weight of only 1,700 grams including the shock and in size M, a figure that places it among the lightest dual XC frames on the market.

However, Orbea insists that the main goal was not to achieve the lightest frame possible, but the fastest bicycle. During development, different carbon configurations were tested, and according to the brand, the riders of the Orbea FOX Factory Team systematically preferred the final version over another approximately 50 grams lighter because it offered better sensations and superior performance.

In addition to performance improvements, the new Oiz incorporates several solutions aimed at durability and functionality. Among them stand out:
- BSA threaded bottom bracket.
- Spinblock system to limit handlebar rotation and protect the frame in case of a fall.
- Reinforced bearings.
- Double bottle cage in all sizes.
- Integrated multi-tool.
- Rear brake with Post Mount anchor.
- Wide customization possibilities through MyO.
Orbea Oiz 2027: Models and Prices
The new Orbea Oiz 2027 range consists of 8 models divided into two levels of carbon. On one hand, the exclusive OMX frame, the lightest and competition-oriented version, available in four builds ranging from the Oiz M-Pro (€7,299) to the Oiz M-LTD (€10,999).
