Evie Richards won't race in Lenzerheide, problems continue for the World Champion
The problems continue for Evie Richards. The British rider has just announced that a few days ago she tested positive for Covid and will miss the World Cup in Lenzerheide and next weekend's World Cup in Vallnord.
World champion Evie Richards to miss two more World Cup events
In 2021 Evie Richards became World Champion after an almost perfect season in which she won 3 World Cup races. However, this year has been quite bad for the British rider. A back injury has kept her well below her level and made her miss Petropolis and Leogang, now the Covid will leave her out of the competition again.
This was communicated by the rider herself:
Some times in life you have a year where everything works out perfectly and other years for what ever reason it feels like everything just keeps going wrong. Unfortunately that’s been my year. Training was finally going great in Morzine then I tested positive for Covid, and was forced off the bike for 8 days. I’ll be back on the bike next week but unfortunately that means I won’t be at the next two world cups. This is part of the sport and as rubbish as it is, I’m becoming mentally stronger and it’s just adding more fuel to the fire to get back to the top, when ever that might be. Biggest thanks for all the amazing support from everyone.
