Although the SL9 has just been made official, we have been seeing prototypes around the German team for several weeks. Some team riders even competed with versions that already revealed the new model, so it is evident that the team has been very close to its development before its launch.

Now there are no secrets. The new Tarmac SL9 will be the main bike of the Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe during the Grande Boucle, and Specialized has taken the opportunity to present both the official team decoration and a spectacular custom edition for Remco Evenepoel.

The new Tarmac SL9 of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe
Although the SL9 will also be present in other teams sponsored by Specialized, such as Soudal Quick-Step, FDJ United-SUEZ, or SD Worx-Protime, the bike of the German team is probably the most anticipated due to the presence of Remco Evenepoel.
The decoration is named Motion + Emotion and retains some of the visual elements that have already become a hallmark of the team. The frame combines a dark blue front with a white rear inspired by the "sticker slap" design popularized by Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe in recent seasons.

Beyond the paint, the new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL9 arrives to definitively replace the separation between aero and climbing bikes. Specialized claims it combines a 687-gram frame with improved aerodynamics compared to the previous generation, making it the best bike that riders will use for practically any stage of the race.

The setup chosen by the team for the Tour de France will be:
- Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL9 frame made of Fact 12r carbon
- SRAM RED AXS group with Quarq power meter
- Roval Rapide CLX III wheels
- Specialized S-Works Power Mirror EVO saddle
- Specialized S-Works Cotton Racing tires
- Supacaz tape
- Tacx bottle cages
- Garmin Edge 1050
Specialized has released a frame kit with the same decoration that the team will use, priced at 5,999.e and you can learn more about it here.
Remco Evenepoel will have a unique Gold Edition
But the big surprise has come with the bike reserved for Remco Evenepoel.
The Olympic champion will have an exclusive S-Works Tarmac SL9 Gold Edition, a special version created specifically for him that stands out for the presence of gold color in various areas of the bike.

The fork, the head tube area, and several details throughout the frame receive a golden finish that pays tribute to the Olympic gold won by the Belgian. Specialized has also extended this treatment to some components of the drivetrain, where a gold-finished chain and cassette stand out.
Mechanically, the bike maintains practically the same configuration as the rest of its teammates. Here we leave you its step-by-step setup.
With the Tour de France about to begin, the new Tarmac SL9 is ready for its competitive debut. And while the bike of the Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe will attract many eyes, Remco Evenepoel's exclusive Gold Edition promises to become one of the most photographed bikes of the entire race.
