The earpieces are coming to mountain biking, will they reduce the excitement of the competition?
A few months ago, following rumors that have finally come true, we wondered if the radio and earpieces made sense in mountain biking. Well, the World Cup has started, the UCI included them in its new regulations and we have already seen riders using them in races.
Radio arrives to mountain biking and earpieces are already seen in races
Among the many new features that the UCI has included in the MTB World Cup for 2023, is the use of radio to allow communication between riders and team. At the moment it is only allowed in World Cup races and in Nove Mesto we could already see some riders, such as Mathias Fluckiger using it.
It can only be used by riders and teams that have previously requested it, and for example, in the Short Track we could see that Fluckiger wore it unhooked from his ear.
