The SLF Motion carbon derailleur cages arrive at the single chainring drivetrains
Lighten to the last gram. From that inspiration the new SLF Motion derailleur cages were born, made of carbon and now available for single chainring gearboxes. Let us tell you more about them.
SLF Motion: carbon derailleur cages for single chainrings
The improvements of the SLF Motion derailleur cages gain the EVO name to make a couple of quality jumps. Both to be expected. The first one is the corresponding improvements in their manufacture. The second one, its availability for single chainrings.

Let's start by looking at the SLF Motion step by step. The derailleur cage of the new SLF Motion EVO has a design to promote resistance in the vertexes, so an even more durable cage is expected. It's not that they will suffer from low durability, but small improvements in the design always help. But this resistance adds a carbon derailleur cage with 7075 aluminium supports, mixing the best of each aspect.
With an upper 14-tooth and lower 18-tooth pulley, the SLF Motion EVO cages mount both sprockets on hybrid ceramic bearings. We have already talked about ceramic bearings and the good result in terms of durability and low resistance they provide.
All details and price of the carbon SLF Motion EVO
Shorter, the SLF Motion is also narrower. Just right for the chain, measured to the micrometer and finished off with a lower flange that makes it easier to push the cage if that turn is needed for the wheel change. These small details are welcome and you will appreciate them when you need them.
The large size of the SLF Motion EVO derailleur cages is a reminder of the strategy already followed by Kogel with its famous Kolossos, which are also striking in terms of size.
SLF Motion derailleur cages are fully compatible with all types of rollouts. Regardless of whether Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo, the price and warranty are the same: $495, which at the exchange rate will be around 450€, and 6 years of full coverage.
To all this, they add that slightly more robust system they have called EVO 1X. Of course, the 1X says it all: single chainring. They are now compatible with single-chainring systems. These particular wheels are available for SRAM Eagle (AXS or not), Force 1 and Rival 1; and Shimano XT and XTR 12-crown. Same price: 495 dollars.
And finally, one more novelty. The Evo Aero. Eye-catching at the very least. An aerodynamic system that covers the entire derailleur cage, which in this version is narrower, and a carbon front cover that has been tested in the wind tunnel. Its price is higher, 595 dollars, about 550 euros, because it is a complete carbon plate. The triathletes are going to be grateful.
