SRAM has just introduced a series of mountain bike specific brake discs. The new SRAM HS2 discs have been designed to improve braking power thanks to their structure and the new brake track pattern.

New HS2 brake discs, more braking power thanks to their design and structure

The new SRAM HS2 discs are specific for mountain biking, and although in SRAM's presentation they have been associated with the most demanding modalities of this discipline, the truth is that they are very versatile and come in sizes from 160 to 220 mm. So they can be mounted on any current MTB, from XCO to DH, including Trail, Enduro, etc.

These discs are designed to improve braking, reduce noise and increase heat dissipation. This has been achieved thanks to the new brake track pattern, which increases brake pad traction, and the heat-dissipating spokes with paint inserts. This is a very powerful, quiet disc with great heat management.

Made of steel, the new 160mm SRAM HS2 weighed 148g on our scales.

Key points of the SRAM HS2

  • Thicker 2.00mm rotor
  • Superior heat management (40°C less than Centerline, per Garda test)
  • 7% more power
  • Available in 6 bolt and Centerlock

As mentioned above, the SRAM HS2 discs come in 160, 180, 200 and 220 mm options for Centerlock or 6 bolt and are priced at 55, 60, 65 and 70€ respectively from smallest to largest size.
