Wolf Tooth introduces its own hubs for road, gravel and MTB
Wolf Tooth Components expands its catalog with a new family of hubs developed and machined by the brand itself in the United States. The range starts with three versions to cover everything from road and gravel to XC, trail, and downhill, all made from 7075-T6 aluminum and centered around ENVE's INNERDRIVE gearing system.
Wolf Tooth enters the hub market with three models
After being seen without an official presentation during Sea Otter last April, the new Wolf Tooth hubs are now a reality. The American company now incorporates them into its catalog as a new family of components designed to cover practically all disciplines.

One of its main arguments lies precisely in its manufacturing. Wolf Tooth designs and machines the hub bodies in the United States using 7075-T6 aluminum, a high-strength alloy that allows for special material work to reduce weight. In terms of aesthetics, Wolf Tooth's design is well reflected in the body of these new hubs.

The range is initially divided into three configurations:
| Model | Use | Spokes | Holes | Weight per set |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Road / Gravel | Road and gravel | Straight Pull | 24 | 326 g |
| MTB Boost XC / Trail | XC and trail | Straight Pull | 28 | 371 g |
| MTB Boost Trail / DH | Aggressive trail and downhill | J-Bend | 28 / 32 | 442 g |
The first two versions use Straight Pull spokes and a more aggressive machining aimed at eliminating material where it is not necessary. The J-Bend option, on the other hand, is designed for more demanding uses, from aggressive trail to downhill, and accommodates front axles of 15 and 20 mm.
Wolf Tooth relies on ENVE's INNERDRIVE system
Although Wolf Tooth considered developing its own freewheel mechanism, it ultimately opted to integrate ENVE's INNERDRIVE technology, believing it met the objectives it sought for its new hubs.

The system uses large 42 mm diameter toothed rings. According to Wolf Tooth, this size allows for an increased number of teeth and achieves faster engagement without compromising durability.
Additionally, INNERDRIVE allows for modifying the hub's behavior through four interchangeable ratchet options: 40T PRO, 60T, 80T, and 100T. With the latter, the engagement angle is reduced to 3.6 degrees.
Wolf Tooth has chosen the 40T PRO as the standard configuration for its road and gravel hubs. It is a lightweight version achieved through machining and designed to work with the low spring force of INNERDRIVE, aiming to reduce drag while maintaining reliable engagement.

In this way, the user is not tied to a single compromise between engagement speed and resistance to rotation, but can change the ratchet depending on their preferences.
Perfect Preload eliminates manual preload adjustment
Another area where Wolf Tooth has particularly focused is maintenance. The new hubs incorporate the so-called Perfect Preload System, based on a calibrated wave washer that establishes and maintains the preload of the bearings.
The preload is optimized during assembly, and the system is designed to dynamically compensate for it throughout the hub's lifespan. It does not require specific tools or manual adjustments. It is enough to tighten the hub's end to the specified torque.

The sizes of the bearings between the front and rear hubs have also been standardized, and uniform spoke lengths have been sought within each wheel set to simplify repairs and replacements.
In the Straight Pull versions, the housings are designed to prevent spoke rotation, while a circlip keeps the internal components secure during maintenance operations, preventing them from coming loose when disassembling the hub.
Price and models of the new Wolf Tooth hubs
Wolf Tooth will initially market its new hubs in six anodized finishes: Ultraviolet Purple, black, orange, gold, blue, and red. The brand already anticipates that more options will arrive later.

In addition to selling them separately for custom builds, Wolf Tooth has partnered with ENVE and We Are One to offer complete wheels with carbon rims made in North America.
At launch, the following combinations will be available:
- ENVE SES 4.5
- ENVE G SES 4.5
- We Are One Whisp
- ENVE M6
- We Are One Triad 29"
- We Are One Triad Mullet
- ENVE M8
With these options, the new family covers everything from high-performance road wheels to setups intended for the most aggressive MTB disciplines.
The front hub costs 270€, while the rear is priced at 550€.
The new hubs are already available through Wolf Tooth and the brand's international distributor network. With them, Wolf Tooth enters a new category of components while maintaining two of the characteristics that define much of its catalog: in-house manufacturing in the United States and a wide range of configuration options.
