Video: the best moments from Berta and Vidaurre’s wins in Soldier Hollow

The XCO World Cup debuted this weekend in Soldier Hollow, Utah, and it did so with two very different races but with excitement until the last laps. Martina Berta completed a perfect weekend by winning both Short Track and XCO, while in the men's race Martin Vidaurre waited until the last lap to launch the attack that gave him victory. Two races for which you can now see the best moments in a compressed format.

Martina Berta confirms her great moment with a double win

The women's race was initially marked by equality among the main favorites. Gwendalyn Gibson, on the new 32" Trek, was one of the most active riders during the early laps, while Sina Frei also took responsibilities at the front and Jenny Rissveds tried to stay in the fight.

Everything changed on the fourth lap. Martina Berta launched a strong attack and only Gibson could follow her. The two quickly opened a gap over a chasing group that included Frei, Haley Batten, Alessandra Keller, and Savilia Blunk.

Berta had won Saturday's Short Track by attacking in the final stretch, and in the XCO she waited again for the right moment. Already on the last lap, the Italian accelerated, left Gibson behind, and rode solo towards victory.

Berta won with a 13-second lead over Gibson, while Sina Frei triumphed over Blunk in the battle for third place. Jenny Rissveds finished eighth, so the fight between the Swede and Frei for the overall will continue until the last event.

Martin Vidaurre resolves a race where no one could escape

The men's race had a very different development. The Soldier Hollow circuit allowed for high-speed riding, but it also made it easy for groups to neutralize almost all escape attempts.

Christopher Blevins started setting the pace, and then Jordan Sarrou, Samuel Gaze, Luca Martin, and Mathis Azzaro appeared at the front. Cannondale also tried to take control with Luca Martin, Charlie Aldridge, and Cole Punchard, but no offensive managed to definitively break the race apart.

Incidents reduced the options for some riders. Filippo Colombo suffered a flat tire while racing with the new 32" SCOTT Spark, while Aldridge went down just before the last lap and had to stop later due to damage to his rear wheel. Still, 12 riders started the last lap practically together.

It was then that Martin Vidaurre appeared. The Chilean, who had raced from the back to the front, first increased the pace and then launched the decisive attack. Mathis Guay and Cole Punchard tried to follow him, but Vidaurre managed to open a gap that no one could close.

Vidaurre won by five seconds over Punchard and seven over Guay, while Luca Braidot and Mathis Azzaro completed the top five positions.

The XCO World Cup heads to its final event in Lake Placid

Soldier Hollow has been the penultimate stop on the XCO calendar, and the next event will definitively decide the season. The World Cup will now travel to Lake Placid, New York, to hold the last XCO event of 2026 from October 2 to 4, with several overall classifications still to be resolved.

Before that, there will be a stop for downhill. The DH World Cup will travel next weekend to Whistler, Canada, before reuniting with XCO in Lake Placid.
