Upway and Orbea join forces to give a second life to eBikes
Orbea and Upway have announced a strategic alliance that will give a second life to used electric bicycles. This collaboration brings together two leaders in the sector: Orbea, a Basque manufacturer of high-performance bicycles with a strong social commitment, and Upway, a European leader in reconditioning electric bicycles.
Upway and Orbea join forces in a firm step towards more sustainable mobility
The new partnership will allow Orbea distributors to offer a turnkey exchange service, fully integrated thanks to Upway's technology. This way, customers will be able to assess and deliver their used e-bike easily, directly from the website and with just a few clicks.
As a launch incentive, both brands are offering for a limited time up to €500 additional bonus on the exchange of bicycles, applicable to the purchase of a new Orbea.
“Our mission is simple: to make electric mobility more affordable and sustainable,” explains Toussaint Wattinne, co-founder and CEO of Upway. “We are excited to work with a brand like Orbea to offer their customers a circular and rewarding solution.”

From Orbea, CEO Daniel Martínez highlights the brand's commitment: “We believe in the transformative power of the bicycle. Giving a second life to an e-bike is connecting more people with their communities and transforming realities. This initiative is consistent with our cooperative model and our commitment to a more sustainable future.”
The Upway service allows buying reconditioned bicycles with up to a 60% discount compared to the original price, including 12 months of warranty on frame, battery, motor, and electronics. Each bicycle goes through a meticulous restoration process in their own workshops located in France, Belgium, Germany, the USA, and now also Spain.
Meanwhile, Orbea continues to strengthen its sustainability strategy: each of their bicycles is assembled on demand in Europe, reducing overproduction and allowing for total customization for the end user.
