Pidcock withdraws from the Tour due to Covid, will it affect his Olympics?
Viruses have been wreaking havoc on the Tour de France for a few days now, causing significant casualties in the teams, such as British rider Tom Pidcock who has decided to withdraw and not start stage 14. Pidcock has been one of those infected by Covid and now doubts loom over his participation in the Olympics.

The INEOS Grenadiers announced Pidcock's withdrawal before the start of stage 14:
"Disappointed Tom Pidcock will not participate in stage 14 of the Tour de France today. Tom is experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 and, following the advice of our medical team, will now return home to recover."

Now it remains to be seen if the British rider is able to make it to his double Olympic appointment starting on June 29 with the mountain bike event. Pidcock is the top favorite and aims to defend the gold he won in Tokyo, but this setback could make the race more open than many assumed.
After the XCO, Pidcock will be in the Olympic road race on July 21.
