Tom Pidcock will compete in both mountain biking and road cycling at the Paris Olympics
The British Selection has just announced the cyclists chosen for the upcoming Paris Olympics and it is confirmed that Tom Pidcock will compete to defend his gold medal in the MTB event and 5 days later he will be in the road event.
Tom Pidcock will compete for the Olympic gold medal in MTB and road
Unlike Van der Poel, who decided to give up the MTB event in the Olympics, Tom Pidcock continues to bet on what has been so successful for him so far: competing in multiple disciplines "at the same time."
The British cycling team for the 2024 Paris Olympics was announced today and in the MTB discipline, Tom Pidcock will be accompanied by the young talent Charlie Aldridge, whom we saw trying to keep up with him during the recent Short Track in Crans Montana. For the women's event, Evie Richards will have Ella Maclean-Howell, the national Under-23 champion, as her teammate.

In the road cycling event, Tom Pidcock will have Josh Tarling, Stevie Williams, and Fred Wright as his selection teammates.
After winning the XCO World Cup in Crans Montana this weekend with exceptional authority, Pidcock will be the top favorite for the gold medal in Paris, a title he already won in 2021 in Tokyo. But on his way to the Olympics, he still has to compete in a demanding event such as the Tour de France, from June 29 to July 21, so we will see how he assimilates and recovers after a 3-week race.
Even without knowing the rest of the competitors, Pidcock is not expected to be the favorite in the road cycling event, but the truth is that when the British rider lines up at the start line, he only does so with the intention of winning.
Remember that the men's MTB event will take place on Monday, July 29, and the road cycling event will be on Saturday, August 3.
