The new Garmin Varia Vue light comes with a 4K camera
Varia within the Garmin range is synonymous with safety, which is provided by its rear light with radar that warns of approaching vehicles and, in its latest update released in 2022, incorporated a rear camera capable of automatically recording in case of an accident. Now, the Varia ecosystem also extends to the front with the new Varia Vue light, which, like its counterpart, also adds a high-resolution camera.

Dashcams are becoming common elements in circulation because, in case of an accident, they allow the causes and responsibilities of the same to be determined. Devices that are becoming especially useful for cyclists due to the increasing animosity towards this group caused by their greater presence on the roads.
Garmin had already improved its rear radar Garmin Varia with a camera capable of automatically starting recording in case of an accident and now extends this functionality to its new device Varia Vue, a powerful front light to which a camera capable of recording in 4K quality is added and, like the rear version, has automatic recording function when an incident is detected.

A high-quality camera with electronic image stabilization and WiFi connectivity that allows it to be linked to the Garmin Vault application to store them directly in the cloud.
On the other hand, the front light has a considerable power of 600 lumens, automatically adjusting the intensity to ambient light conditions, the speed at which we ride, or, if we ride in traffic, reducing the brightness to avoid dazzling drivers.
The Garmin Varia Vue light/camera has excellent autonomy, which in daytime flash mode allows operation for about 7 hours. Autonomy that extends to 9 hours of recording with the light off. Additionally, to facilitate its operation, all functions can be modified by linking it to a Garmin Edge cycle computer. However, to enjoy this new Garmin toy, we will have to shell out the €549.99 it costs.
