The new Black Inc HYPER 62 come with proprietary carbon spokes and an innovative hub connection
Black Inc has officially presented the new HYPER 62, a high-profile road wheelset that represents one of the most ambitious technological developments of the brand linked to Factor Bikes. Beyond a simple increase in profile or a reduction in weight, the HYPER 62 introduces a completely new architecture based on internally developed carbon spokes, an innovative system for joining spokes and hubs, and unprecedented aerodynamic solutions aimed at maximizing real speed on the asphalt.
Black Inc HYPER 62: the new carbon wheels with proprietary spokes that promise more speed and efficiency
The brand defines this launch as a leap in its level of technological control, as practically all structural elements of the wheel have been specifically designed for this project.
According to Black Inc, the HYPER 62 project was born with the goal of developing a deep wheel capable of combining aerodynamic efficiency, low weight, lateral stiffness, and predictable behavior in competition.
To achieve this, engineers worked for years on a proprietary platform that allowed them to optimize each element of the set instead of relying on standard components supplied by third parties.

The result is a 62 mm profile wheel conceived as an integrated system where spokes, rim, and hub work together to improve performance.

Carbon spokes developed by Black Inc
One of the most striking elements of the new HYPER 62 is its proprietary carbon spokes.
Instead of using spokes made by external suppliers, Black Inc designed a specific architecture that allowed it to directly control aspects such as shape, carbon layup, stiffness, strength, and ride feel.
During the development process, multiple configurations of width, geometry, and composition of the spokes were tested to determine how much the dynamic behavior of the wheel could be modified by acting on this component.
The first prototypes were built on 48 mm profile wheels, extremely light and stiff, although later the evolution of the project led to the current 62 mm configuration.
According to the brand, this development allows for a combination of low rotational mass, high lateral response, and more controlled behavior under load, improving power transfer and stability at high speeds.
New system for joining spokes and hub
Another major innovation is the so-called Bonded Hub Flange Technology, an exclusive technology that modifies the way carbon spokes connect to the hub.
Instead of using only a conventional mechanical joint, Black Inc has developed a high-precision adhesion process that integrates spokes and hub more efficiently.

Before assembly, the hub shell receives an anodizing treatment and is then subjected to laser engraving in the joining area to optimize the adhesion surface.
This solution allows for better distribution of structural loads throughout the wheel, increasing stiffness and strength while reducing the material needed.
According to the company, the result is a lighter structure capable of withstanding the demands of professional competition.
Cleaner aerodynamics thanks to hidden spokes
Black Inc has also worked on reducing turbulence at one of the traditionally most problematic points from an aerodynamic perspective: the junction between the spokes and the rim.
The new HYPER 62 incorporates a system called Hidden Threaded Tip Integration, which completely hides the threaded tension adjustment interface within the rim.
To achieve this, it was necessary to develop specific molds and integrated housings within the carbon structure itself.
The advantage is twofold. On one hand, a cleaner surface is obtained from an aerodynamic point of view, and on the other, the possibility of making tension adjustments and maintenance operations is maintained.
Black Inc claims that this solution reduces airflow disturbances around the rim, especially with high wind incidence angles.
62 mm rim reinforced with TexTreme
The 62 mm profile has been optimized through numerous aerodynamic development processes to offer high efficiency across a wide range of wind conditions.
To keep weight under control without compromising structural stiffness, Black Inc uses an advanced carbon layup complemented by a TexTreme outer layer, a material widely used in high-performance applications for its excellent weight-to-strength ratio.

The brand explains that the sidewalls of a deep rim can suffer deformations under load, during tire mounting, or upon impact. The TexTreme layer helps to increase the stiffness of these critical areas without penalizing the total weight.
