The new Avinox engine has received approval from the UCI and makes its competition debut with Megamo

Just a few days after it was confirmed that the UCI had approved a special version of the new Avinox M2W motor for competition, there is already a bike that has competed with it. This is the Megamo Reason CRB 02 and it is the first to do so.

The Avinox M2S is now a reality in UCI competition and debuts with Megamo

The M2S in its standard configuration is well above the limits set by the regulations, with power peaks that far exceed the 750 W threshold established by the UCI. Therefore, as we anticipated, the only way to compete was through a specific adaptation. This version is now official and has its own name, M2S Race750, a limited variant that allows Avinox to enter a territory where it previously had no presence.

Far from being a simple minor adjustment, the homologation implies a structural modification of the system. According to the brand itself, the motor operates with a specific firmware that permanently restricts the maximum power to 750 W. This is not a selectable mode or a configurable profile, but a fixed limitation that ensures compliance with the regulations in any usage situation. This point aligns with what was already suspected after the publication of the list of homologated motors, where Avinox appeared for the first time with a differentiated designation.

The technical control also takes a further step. The verification by the commissioners relies on two methods: on one hand, the scanning of a QR code integrated into the motor itself that allows checking the system parameters, and on the other, the direct reading of data through the official application. This is a coherent approach with the growing digitalization of these systems, especially on platforms like Avinox, where electronic management is a central part of performance.

The race debut has come with Kevin Miquel, the 2024 eMTB Enduro world champion, who used this configuration in a European circuit event. His performance was competitive from the start, riding in the front positions until a mechanical problem in the final sections affected the final result and left him out of the top 5.

Beyond the classification, the relevant data is another. For the first time, an Avinox system competes under UCI regulations, passes technical verifications in the race, and integrates into an environment where mechanical equality is much more controlled. This closes the circle that opened just a few weeks ago when the regulation excluded the original version of the M2S due to excessive performance.

The movement also reinforces Megamo's role in this process. The Reason CRB 02 already stood out for combining a well-crafted chassis with one of the most advanced electrical systems on the market, and now it also becomes the competitive debut platform for Avinox.

Technology continues to advance beyond regulatory limits and forces manufacturers to develop specific versions for competition. Avinox has already taken that step. Now it remains to be seen to what extent this Race750 version can translate the potential it has demonstrated in its unrestricted configurations onto the circuit.
