World Cup Cyclocross 2026-2027: 12 races and Benidorm returns as a protagonist

The UCI World Cup will continue to be the main reference of the international cyclocross calendar. The 2026-2027 season maintains the format of 12 events, spread between late November and January, although it introduces significant changes in its early races and in the venues it will visit.

The competition will kick off on November 27 in Ostrava, Czech Republic, a venue that will open the first weekend with a double Czech event, as just two days later the Tabor race will take place.

One of the major novelties will arrive on December 13, when Glasgow hosts the third scoring event. The return of the United Kingdom to the World Cup introduces an unusual destination in a calendar that, in recent years, has concentrated much of its races in Belgium and the Netherlands.

From that moment, the traditional Christmas block will begin, with some of the most representative events of the specialty. Antwerp, Koksijde, Gavere, and Namur will take place in just nine days, before the visit to the French town of Besançon.

In January, another of the most anticipated moments for Spanish fans will arrive. As we already announced when the World Cup Cyclocross 2026-2027 calendar was published, Benidorm will again be part of the international circuit. The Costa Blanca race will take place on Sunday, January 17, a week before the competition concludes.

The last highlighted novelty will be the inclusion of Hamme in the World Cup on January 23. Hoogerheide will close the general standings the following day, leaving just five days until the start of the World Championship in Ostend.

Superprestige 2026-2027: significant changes in one of the most historic tournaments

The Superprestige continues to hold a privileged place within European cyclocross. It is one of the oldest circuits in the discipline and, although the World Cup has greater international projection, it maintains enormous importance among mud specialists.

Its main characteristic is the point classification system, which especially rewards consistency. In each race, the winner receives 15 points, the second 14, and so on down to the fifteenth place, which receives one point. At the end of the eight events, the rider with the most points is declared the winner.

The 2026-2027 season presents a significant reorganization of its calendar. Overijse regains its role as the opening event on October 25, while Ruddervoorde, which traditionally opened the championship, moves to December 6.

But the most striking change affects Middelkerke. The event that for years has served to close the Superprestige in February is moved up to November 5, when it will take place at night with a special Halloween atmosphere.

There will also be novelties during Christmas. Heusden-Zolder will take place on December 25, becoming an unusual Christmas Day race, while Diegem will maintain its traditional night event on December 30.

The championship will conclude on January 2 in Gullegem, much earlier than usual and without waiting for the period after the World Championship.

  • 05/11/2026 – Middelkerke (Belgium)

  • 14/11/2026 – Merksplas (Belgium)

  • 02/01/2027 – Gullegem (Belgium)

Trofeo X2O 2026-2027: the championship where winning races is not enough

The Trofeo X2O Badkamers has managed to differentiate itself from the other major circuits thanks to a classification system that resembles more a road stage race than a traditional cyclocross championship.

Instead of accumulating points based on results, the overall classification is established through the accumulated times in each race. Riders can also earn time bonuses in an intermediate sprint and for the fastest laps.Victory of Lucinda Brand in Loenhout that maintains her full in the Trofeo X2O

This format makes every second important. A bad day can jeopardize the overall classification, while maintaining consistent performance throughout the eight races is essential to contend for the title.

The 2026-2027 edition includes two notable additions. Hamme-Zogge reintroduces the Bollekescross as part of the circuit, while Beringen joins the championship with its well-known Be-Mine Cross.

The competition will kick off, as usual, on November 1 at the Koppenbergcross in Oudenaarde, one of the most emblematic races of the entire season due to its demanding course.

The GP Sven Nys in Baal will also maintain its usual date of January 1, a tradition of Belgian cyclocross where thousands of fans welcome the new year around a muddy circuit.

Unlike the Superprestige and the World Cup, the Trofeo X2O will continue until February. The races in Lille and Brussels will serve to close an overall classification that will be decided after the World Championship.

Trofeo X2O 2026-2027 Calendar

  • 01/11/2026 – Oudenaarde / Koppenbergcross (Belgium)
  • 15/11/2026 – Hamme-Zogge / Bollekescross (Belgium)
  • 22/11/2026 – Beringen / Be-Mine Cross (Belgium)

  • 01/01/2027 – Baal / GP Sven Nys (Belgium)
  • 07/02/2027 – Lille / Krawatencross (Belgium)
  • 14/02/2027 – Brussels / Brussels Universities Cyclocross (Belgium)

HG Cross 2026-2027: Exact Cross changes its name and renews its races

One of the most visible changes this season affects the circuit previously known as Exact Cross. After four years under that name, the championship has a new main sponsor and is now called HG Cross.

The change does not alter its sporting philosophy. Unlike the World Cup, the Superprestige, or the Trofeo X2O, this circuit does not have an overall classification. Its seven events are held as independent races, without points or accumulated times between them.

This particularity allows cyclists to choose the events that best fit their calendar, without the obligation to maintain regular participation to contend for a final title.

The season began on October 11 in Dendermonde, a notable addition after having previously been part of the World Cup. Meulebeke and Heerde complete the first block of October.

Another novelty will be the return of Lokeren, while Mol regains its night race in December. Maldegem and Sint-Niklaas will maintain their prominence in February, after both the European and World Championships have taken place.

  • 11/10/2026 – Dendermonde (Belgium)
  • 17/10/2026 – Meulebeke (Belgium)
  • 24/10/2026 – Heerde (Netherlands)
  • 21/11/2026 – Lokeren (Belgium)
  • 17/12/2026 – Mol (Belgium)
  • 03/02/2027 – Maldegem (Belgium)
  • 13/02/2027 – Sint-Niklaas (Belgium)

European Championship and World Championship 2026-2027: Zeddam and Ostend will distribute the major titles

Above the overall classifications of the different circuits, the European Championship and the World Championship continue to be two of the major objectives for cyclocross specialists. Two events where everything is decided in a single race and whose reward includes wearing for a year the jersey that identifies the continental or world champion.

The first will take place on November 7 and 8, when the Dutch town of Zeddam hosts the European Championship. The venue has an important history within this modality, as it was the site of the 2006 World Championship, and will recover one of its most characteristic elements for this occasion, a long staircase of approximately 100 steps.

On Saturday, November 7, the junior women's, under-23 men's, and elite women's races will take place, while on Sunday, November 8, it will be the turn of the junior men's, under-23 women's, and elite men's races.

The World Championship will take place much later, from January 29 to 31, 2027, and will mark the return of the competition to Ostend, Belgium, six years after the 2021 edition.

The Belgian circuit will again have sand as one of its decisive elements, with a layout that will combine beach sections, areas near the racetrack, and various artificial obstacles.

The competition will begin on Friday, January 29, with the team relay. On Saturday, the individual races for junior women, under-23 men, and elite women will take place, while on Sunday, the titles for junior men, under-23 women, and elite men will be decided.

The World Championship will close the block of major titles for the season, although the calendar will still continue for several weeks with the last events of the HG Cross and the Trofeo X2O.
