Scott presents the new Sweep range, urban e-bikes with Bosch Hub Drive motor and a minimalist design

Scott expands its catalog of urban electric bicycles with the launch of the new Sweep, a completely new platform developed for those who use the bicycle as a daily means of transport. The Swiss brand abandons the trend of equipping large central motors to bet on the new Bosch Hub Drive system, integrated into the rear hub, with the aim of offering a much more natural pedaling experience, a visually cleaner set, and easier maintenance. All this is combined with a newly designed aluminum frame, integrated removable battery, and three versions aimed at different user profiles.

Scott presents the new Sweep: a range of urban e-bikes with Bosch Hub Drive that bets on simplicity

The new Sweep is presented as an easy-to-use bicycle, and behind it is a platform developed specifically for urban use. Scott has designed a 6061 aluminum frame with hydroformed tubes whose priority is not only to reduce the visual weight of the bicycle but also to offer stable, intuitive, and easy-to-control behavior for daily commutes.690201-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-family-01-9e068a-original-1784711976-1785418236653-5

The brand explains that the entire family shares the same design philosophy with clean lines, integration of all elements, and very contained proportions so that the bicycle resembles a conventional bicycle as much as possible. The result is a frame capable of supporting a maximum system weight of 130 kg, maintaining stable behavior both when riding in the city and when carrying luggage or making daily trips.

Scott has also developed two differentiated geometries within the range.

The Sweep 10 adopts a more dynamic approach, with chainstays of 445 mm and a head angle of between 70.5 and 71 degrees that seek a more agile and sporty ride.690207-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-side-view-bfe7b2-original-1784712011-1785418236687-10

Meanwhile, the Sweep 20 and Sweep 20 Wave increase the length of the chainstays to 475 mm and use a head angle of 69-70 degrees to gain stability and comfort, a choice consistent with their clearly utilitarian approach.690199-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-20-wave-3-4-b5876f-original-1784711927-1785418236613-3

Bosch Hub Drive: less power on paper, more natural feel on the bike

The main technical novelty of the Sweep is the adoption of the new Bosch Hub Drive, a motor housed in the rear hub that represents a change in philosophy compared to most current urban electric bicycles.

Instead of resorting to a central motor, Scott opts for a much more compact set that barely modifies the aesthetics of the bicycle and allows for a pedaling sensation closer to that of a conventional bicycle. The motor develops 45 Nm of maximum torque and reaches a peak power of 400 W, figures far from those offered by the most powerful e-bikes on the market, but sufficient for the use intended for the Sweep.

According to the brand, the assistance has been calibrated to intervene only when necessary, whether starting from a traffic light, tackling a hill, fighting against the wind, or carrying additional load. The system uses a cadence-based sensor to provide progressive and very predictable power delivery, especially in urban traffic with constant accelerations and braking.

Another highlighted aspect is the weight of the motor itself, approximately 2.3 kg, which contributes to the bicycle transmitting a lighter feel during riding. Additionally, being integrated into the rear wheel completely frees the bottom bracket area and facilitates maintenance tasks, as the motor can be removed without needing to re-spoke the wheel. Scott has also placed the control unit in an easily accessible position within the down tube to simplify future technical interventions.

Integrated, removable battery ready to extend range

The power supply of the system is provided by a Bosch PowerTube of 360 Wh, completely integrated into the frame but removable for easy charging both at home and in the office. Scott believes that this capacity comfortably covers usual daily commutes, although those needing to make longer trips can resort to the Bosch PowerMore of 250 Wh, a range extender compatible with the entire range.

The electrical system is completed with the Bosch Purion 200 display, from which all assistance is controlled, while connectivity with the Bosch Flow app allows for the customization of different parameters, checking usage information, and receiving wireless software updates.690204-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-removable-battery-in-5bf9a6-original-1784712000-1785412774804-8

Designed to live with it every day

Scott wants the Sweep to arrive equipped from day one to become a true daily-use bicycle. All versions include integrated lighting, fenders, a kickstand, and multiple solutions for carrying luggage without the need for additional accessories. 690213-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-tunnel-1-post-ee9327-original-1784712056-1785418236742-12

The Sweep 10 uses side supports capable of carrying up to 8 kg, while the Sweep 20 and Sweep 20 Wave are equipped with a Racktime Stand-it Eco 2.0 rack, compatible with the SNAPIT 2.0 system and ready to support loads of up to 25 kg. The frame also incorporates different mounting points for installing other accessories intended for urban use.

Scott has not overlooked other details typical of a bicycle that will be used every day. The Sweep 20 models are compatible with frame locks, the Schwalbe tires are specifically oriented for urban use, and the entire range includes fixed lighting powered by the electrical system, as well as standard fenders for riding in the rain or on wet surfaces.

Scott Sweep: three models with well-defined personalities

Scott Sweep 10

The sportiest version of the range bets on a very clean aesthetic thanks to the rigid aluminum fork and the integrated one-piece Syncros handlebar. It features a Shimano CUES 9-speed transmission, Shimano BR-UR300 brakes, Busch & Müller front lighting, 50 mm Super Moto tires, and declares a weight of approximately 22 kg, being the lightest model in the family. 690209-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-side-view-fork-rotated-8d0c18-original-1784712019-1785418236711-11

Scott Sweep 20

Designed for those who prioritize comfort during daily commutes, it incorporates an SR Suntour fork with 75 mm of travel, adjustable stem, integrated SP Connect smartphone holder in the stem, Racktime rack compatible with SNAPIT 2.0, and Schwalbe Energizer Active Plus tires. Its declared weight is 24.6 kg. 690195-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-20-side-2e2f3b-original-1784711903-1785418236552-0

Scott Sweep 20 Wave

It shares practically the entire cycle part of the Sweep 20 but replaces the conventional frame with a low-step-through design that facilitates getting on and off the bicycle during urban rides with frequent stops. It also incorporates the 75 mm suspension fork, adjustable stem, Racktime rack, and a wider Selle Royal saddle for increased comfort. Scott declares an approximate weight of 24.7 kg.690199-urban-scott-bike-image-by-scott-sports-sweep-20-wave-3-4-b5876f-original-1784711927-1785418236613-3

Scott wants the electric bicycle to go unnoticed

With the new Sweep, Scott does not intend to compete to offer the most powerful urban electric bicycle on the market. The philosophy of the project is to offer an e-bike that retains the behavior of a conventional bicycle, minimizes the complexity of use, and goes almost unnoticed both in its riding and aesthetics.
