Van Rysel unveils THE ACE, an exclusive RCR-G with two wheelsets for road and gravel

Van Rysel has just presented THE ACE, a new limited edition collection centered around its newly launched RCR-G. The bike receives a specific decoration and, above all, a setup that exploits its closeness to a road bike. To this end, it comes directly with two complete wheelsets, one for gravel and another for asphalt.

ACE takes the new Van Rysel RCR-G a step further

The collection will be officially presented at Sea Otter Europe and will be available in European markets starting September 18. In addition to the bike, THE ACE includes a selection of helmets, shoes, glasses, and clothing from Van Rysel with a common aesthetic.

THE ACE IMAGE 6

Just a few weeks ago, Van Rysel fully entered the gravel market with two completely different models. As we saw with the presentation of the RCR-G and EDR-G, the former is clearly focused on competition, while the EDR-G adopts a more adventure-oriented philosophy, suitable for long distances and bikepacking.

Its development is based on Van Rysel's experience with the RCR-R Pro road bike, and the brand worked especially on aerodynamics, weight, and stiffness to adapt it to increasingly faster gravel races. The frame has a declared weight of 885 g unpainted in size M and accommodates tires up to 50 mm.

With THE ACE, Van Rysel takes that versatility between asphalt and trails even further. Each bike includes two different wheelsets, allowing the owner to quickly transform its setup depending on the terrain.

For gravel, it mounts Swiss Side Gravon 500 with Vittoria T30 tires of 40 mm, while for road it incorporates Van Rysel VR50 with Continental GP5000 S TR of 28 mm.

THE ACE IMAGE 12

It is quite a unique proposal. Rather than trying to turn the RCR-G into a gravel bike for all types of uses, THE ACE precisely leverages its racing character to bring it even closer to a fast road bike when the wheelset is changed.

An exclusive RCR-G with Shimano Ultegra Di2 and carbon cockpit

The bike THE ACE also differs from the three setups with which the RCR-G was originally presented. That range started at €3,199 with SRAM Rival XPLR AXS and went up to €6,599 for the RED XPLR AXS version.

This limited edition switches to Shimano and uses a Ultegra Di2 R8170 group, accompanied by the integrated Deda Combo RCR-R Carbon cockpit, a solution also used in the RCR-R Pro from Decathlon CMA CGM.

The frame remains High Modulus carbon, but also receives an exclusive finish with Raptor coating, one of the elements that allows this edition to be identified.

Its main specifications are as follows:

  • High Modulus carbon frame
  • Shimano Ultegra R8170 Di2
  • Deda Combo RCR-R Carbon cockpit
  • Gravel wheels Swiss Side Gravon 500
  • Road wheels Van Rysel VR50
  • Gravel tires Vittoria T30 of 40 mm
  • Road tires Continental GP5000 S TR of 28 mm
  • Specific finish with Raptor coating

The price of this Van Rysel RCR-G THE ACE will be €6,600, practically the same price level as the catalog RCR-G RED AXS, although in this case it is a completely different configuration and includes a second wheelset.

THE ACE is not just a bike

The name of the collection refers to the ace of the deck, and Van Rysel has built an entire range of limited edition equipment around that concept. The brand's idea is to place the "Ace" above the King and Queen and transfer that concept to a collection capable of transitioning from road to gravel.

In addition to the RCR-G, THE ACE includes the aerodynamic helmet RCR-F, tested in a wind tunnel and equipped with Mips; the shoes RCR-R with SPD adapter; the glasses KWARE category 3; the jersey EDR ULTRA; the shorts EDR ULTRA, available in both male and female versions and equipped with Elastic Interface padding; and the RCR socks.

Helmet RCR-F €120
Shoes RCR-R + SPD adapter €180
Glasses KWARE Cat. 3 €70

Van Rysel warns that these are recommended prices and may vary depending on the market and the promotions of each distributor.

A very limited edition debuting at Sea Otter Europe

THE ACE will be officially presented on Friday, September 18 coinciding with the opening of Sea Otter Europe, where the collection will be displayed at the Van Rysel stand. The brand will also have test units of the new RCR-G and EDR-G available.

Van Rysel has not communicated the exact number of units it will manufacture and only indicates that production will be limited. The collection will be available in different European markets, while its arrival in the UK will be decided later based on demand.
