Primož Roglič will participate in La Vuelta a España 5 weeks after his accident in the Tour
It was one of the big doubts and it has just been resolved. The three-time winner of La Vuelta Primo? Rogli? will be at the starting line of the 2024 edition. And he will do so 5 weeks after a tough accident suffered in the Tour de France that fractured a vertebra.
Roglic will start La Vuelta 2024
His absence in the Clásica San Sebastián last weekend led us to suppose that the Slovenian was not going to recover in time to participate in La Vuelta, but luckily we were wrong.
The Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe has confirmed that Primo? Rogli? will participate in the Vuelta a España and will do so alongside Roger Adrià, Giovanni Aleotti, Nico Denz, Patrick Gamper, Florian Lipowitz, Dani Martínez, and Aleksandr Vlasov. In addition, to relieve the pressure on Roglic, Martínez and Vlasov will share the team leadership with the Slovenian.
We remind you that Roglic's season has been quite eventful and after the notorious fall in the Itzulia that forced him to undergo surgery to treat his collarbone fracture, the Red Bull leader suffered another hard fall during stage 12 of the Tour de France, this time causing a vertebra fracture that he has tried to recover from in just 5 weeks.
RECOMENDADO
He combined the recovery from this latest injury with a block of altitude training, always keeping in mind his goal of achieving his fourth victory in La Vuelta.
This is how Rolf Aldag, sports director of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, presented the team for La Vuelta 2024:
"We enter the third Grand Tour of the year with great expectations. We have selected eight cyclists with whom we will not hide, but will seek to compete aggressively for the general classification." "However, we will have to wait and see to what extent we can execute this plan. After all, both Primo? and Aleks did not have the best preparation, due to injuries and five weeks without competition."
