Two weeks after the Slovenian was hit by a car while training, doubts about his condition are increasing, and according to the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe will not make a definitive decision until after this weekend.

The accident continues to affect his presence in the Vuelta

Roglič was scheduled to compete in the Clásica San Sebastián and the Vuelta a Burgos as preparation for the Vuelta a España, but an accident during training at the end of July forced the Slovenian to cancel both races. The cyclist himself confirmed the accident and explained that he would focus all his efforts on recovering for the major Spanish tour.

However, the situation does not seem to be completely resolved. According to information published in Belgium, Roglič continues to train at altitude in Tignes, although still with moderate workloads while the team evaluates his progress. Reports published by Het Laatste Nieuws also indicate that, if he receives medical clearance and is part of the team, Roglič will hardly arrive with the necessary preparation to compete for the general classification.

His long period without competition — he hasn't raced since the Slovenian National Championships at the end of June — and the interruption caused by the accident would have completely altered the plan designed to tackle the only grand tour he had scheduled this season.

Additionally, this year's edition will feature Tadej Pogačar, who returns to the Spanish race as the favorite after completing another season at the highest level.
