Roglic arrives on time and will be at the start of La Vuelta in Monaco
The doubts surrounding two of the most prominent names in the upcoming Vuelta a España seem to have been resolved. Both Thibau Nys and Primož Roglič will finally be at the start of the race on August 22 in Monaco, after overcoming health issues that had compromised their preparation in recent weeks.
Thibau Nys overcomes toxoplasmosis and will debut in La Vuelta. Roglič also arrives in time after the accident suffered in July
The information has been published by the Belgian newspaper HLN, which states that both Lidl-Trek and Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe have given the green light for their leaders to participate in the last grand tour of the season.
In the case of Thibau Nys, the uncertainty was considerable. The young Belgian had already seen a significant part of his first half of the season disrupted by a knee operation, and when he was preparing for his return to compete in the Clásica de San Sebastián, he suffered a toxoplasmosis infection that forced him to halt his planning once again.
The rider himself had made it clear that he would only attend La Vuelta if he arrived in a condition to compete with guarantees. Finally, the evolution has been positive, and he will be able to start in what will be the second grand tour of his career after competing in the Tour de France last year and his debut in the Spanish round.

The other big question was Primož Roglič. The Slovenian suffered an accident while training at the end of July, just a few days before the Clásica de San Sebastián, an incident that caused significant injuries to his right leg and forced him to completely modify his preparation.
During his training camp in Tignes, he gradually regained his workload, and according to information published in Belgium, the medical team of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe now considers him fit to compete in the Spanish round.
La Vuelta is once again presented as the main objective of the season for the four-time winner of the race, who will seek to add a fifth victory to his palmarès in a competition where he has historically performed at his best.
Another rider who will also arrive in time is Kaden Groves. The Australian sprinter from Alpecin-Premier Tech made his comeback this weekend at the BEMER Cyclassics in Hamburg after almost two months without competing and has also received the green light to race in La Vuelta before joining Tudor Pro Cycling next season.
Although the uncertainties about his participation have now disappeared, it remains to be seen what the actual state of form will be for both Nys and Roglič as they face the start in Monaco. Both have had their preparations altered and will need to demonstrate during the race if they have regained the necessary level to fight for their respective goals.
