The first warning was given by Lucas Schwarzbauer, current leader of the overall XCC classification, when during lap 2 he made a powerful move to take the lead and increase the pace of the front group.
With four laps to go, the group was still very compact despite the continuous relays at the front by Nino Schurter, Filippo Colombo, Titoaun Carod, Luca Braidot, Dascalu or Schwarzbauer himself.
The first important break was made by South African Alan Hatherly, who attacked on lap 8 to leave the lead group with only five riders: Schurter, Fluckiger, Titouan Carod, Luca Braidot and Hatherly himself.
Mathias Flueckiger followed up Hatherly's move with another spectacular attack that launched the race.
In the last lap, attacks followed one after the other among the five leading riders and everything was decided in a four-man sprint won by Filippo Colombo, leaving Nino Schurter off the podium.
Mathias Flueckgier came in second, leaving him as leader of the overall XCC standings, while Alan Hatherly came in third to break the Swiss domination on the podium.
The Spanish rider David Valero was again in the Top 10 with an impressive tenth position after checking the very high level of the Short Track.
