Pogačar leaves hospital, with an update on his return possible on Friday

Tadej Pogačar has already left the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona. The world champion was discharged this Wednesday after the examination conducted in the morning confirmed a favorable evolution and is already traveling to his residence in Monaco, where he will continue his recovery under the supervision of the medical team of UAE Team Emirates-XRG.

According to various media reports, the doctors confirmed this Wednesday that Pogačar's recovery was on track and authorized his discharge from the hospital. One of the main concerns during these first days was to avoid possible infections in the wounds suffered during the fall, but the examination did not detect any problems.

The Slovenian is traveling to his home in Monte Carlo accompanied by Ziga Jerman, his trusted masseur, who has stayed with him during his time in Barcelona.

Pogačar was successfully operated on Monday for the displaced fracture of his left clavicle, after the concussion suffered in the crash initially forced a delay in the intervention.

The next question is when he will be able to return to competition. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogačar has a meeting scheduled this Friday with his representative, Alex Carera, to assess the possible scenarios after the operation and the options for returning this season.

The World Championship in Montreal will take place on September 27. Although there are cases of cyclists who have returned to competition about four weeks after a clavicle fracture, Pogačar's situation is also conditioned by the concussion and by an operation that Mauro Gianetti described as significant.

For now, there is no date for his return. Pogačar will continue his recovery in Monaco and his progress over the next few days will determine if he can still consider competing before the end of the season.
