Pogačar gets back on the bike and takes an important step in his recovery
Tadej Pogacar has given the first visible sign of progress in his recovery. Just over two weeks after the serious fall that ended his Vuelta a España and his entire 2026 season, the Slovenian has published several images of himself back on the bike using a trainer.

The world champion himself has shared several videos from these first days of recovery, including one where he is doing a session on a trainer alongside a team coach.

In the same post, the Slovenian also thanked the support he received from his teams, family, friends, and fans during these weeks.
The recovery began after the very hard fall suffered during the eighth stage of La Vuelta. Pogacar went down with about 32 kilometers to go and at that moment he was wearing the red jersey with a 3:50 lead over Enric Mas.
Medical tests confirmed a concussion, a displaced fracture of the left clavicle, a stable fracture of the cervical vertebra C7, and various abrasions. Pogacar had to immediately abandon the race and was later successfully operated on for the clavicle at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona.
After being discharged, he returned home to begin a recovery that forced him to completely modify his plans for the end of the year.
Although seeing him back on a bike is good news, this return to the trainer should not change his schedule and as we recently reported in Brújula Bike, UAE Team Emirates-XRG confirmed that their leader will not return to compete during the 2026 season.
This means that Pogacar will not be able to defend the rainbow jersey on September 27 in Montreal and will also miss the European Championship and Il Lombardia. His next race number will have to wait until 2027.
For now, his only goal remains to fully recover from injuries that abruptly ended his season.
