Top-level wheels to complete the Oquo range

The second generation of Oquo wheels arrives after Orbea launched this brand in 2022, aimed at providing their bikes with wheels that offer the best performance without depending on other brands. This is achieved with the introduction of 4 new models of road wheels that go straight to the top end of the Oquo range.

Orbea has been fine-tuning these wheels with the invaluable collaboration of the Lotto team, who supply their products and have been essential in pushing the quality and performance of these wheels further. This high-end range is identified by the LTD suffix and includes 4 models: RA80 LTD, RA57 LTD, RP50 LTD, and RP35 LTD, with different profile heights and rim widths but all featuring the new Q10 hubs designed and manufactured in Euskadi to offer minimal friction, minimal weight, and excellent sealing against the elements.

The Q10 hubs weigh an impressive 175 g for the rear and 104 g for the front, thanks to their CNC machining from a single piece of aerospace-grade 7075 T6 aluminum. The rear hub features a ratchet-type core with 45 teeth for optimal and quick engagement. This system receives a ceramic anti-friction treatment to improve its operation and increase durability.

The hubs are equipped with stainless steel bearings instead of the usual ceramic bearings found in high-end ranges. However, these are low-friction custom bearings designed for these wheels. It is worth noting that the hub design allows for tool-free disassembly to facilitate maintenance by keeping it clean and perfectly lubricated. Of course, they will be available with HG hubs for Shimano cassettes or XDR hubs for those using SRAM groups.

Returning to the complete wheels, as mentioned, there are 4 models that make up the new top end of the Oquo range. Firstly, the RA80 LTD wheels offer maximum aerodynamics for triathlons or time trials with their 80 mm profile validated in the wind tunnel to ensure not only the best aerodynamics but also optimal stability in crosswinds.

The RA57 LTD wheels are the most aerodynamic wheels offered for general use. Wind resistance is prioritized, but they can handle varied terrain without limitations. With a similar focus, the RP50 LTD wheels guarantee excellent aerodynamics but also consider comfort by using a rim with a wider inner width that accepts wider tires, making these wheels perfect for those seeking maximum performance on their gravel bike.

Finally, the RP35 LTD wheels are the brand's ultralight model, weighing only 1,244 g for the pair thanks to their slim 35 mm profile. All rims share a mini-hook sidewall design aimed at maintaining a minimal hook to ensure tire retention, but not as prominent as in conventional tubeless rims, aiming to provide some of the advantages of hookless rims without the risk of tire blowout at high pressures without hooks. The four new Oquo wheel models share the same price: €2,399.
