New ZFS-5, Cervélo introduces its first full-suspension mountain bike
Cervélo has just expanded its mountain bike catalog with a second model, the ZFS-5 full-suspension, which has been presented just before the start of the UCI 2023 World Cup.
Cervélo ZFS-5, the first full-suspension mountain bike of the brand
When Milan Vader, former XCO champion of the Netherlands, signed for the Jumbo Visma team in 2021, he already said he wanted to combine the road and mountain bike season, and he intends to compete at the Paris Olympics in the XCO event.

Therefore Cervélo has developed a competitive mountain bike with which Vader, and current CX world champion Fem van Empel will race at the UCI World Cup. The result is this Cervélo ZFS-5 that joins its hardtail version, the ZHT-5, introduced a few months ago.
Cervélo anticipates that the ZFS-5 will be available in summer 2023 and we will know more about its price and final specifications, but for now we are left with its main features and geometry.
This is a full-suspension mountain bike (100 or 120mm) with a monopivot suspension system, a head angle of 67.8° and a saddle angle of 76°. Numbers that follow the current trend of modern XCO and promise a reactive bike with great downhill capacity.
Geometry Cervélo ZFS-5
From the rest of the details of the bike we know that it has a BSA threaded bottom bracket, a safe value that has become popular again for its reliability, and as in the rest of models with single pivot rear suspension, the Cervélo ZFS-5 has taken advantage of the properties of carbon to design flexible stays that help absorb the irregularities of the terrain without adding weight to the set or subtracting stiffness.
The frame is designed to mount a UDH universal hanger and although it is not specified at this time, it appears that the frame has room to mount two water bottles.
The Cervélo ZFS-5 will be premiered at the Nove Mesto World Cup by Milan Vader, who seems fully recovered from his crash at the Itzulia in the Basque Country and this year will race the entire World Cup circuit. We will also see on it the rider Fem van Empel, one of the most recent signings of the Jumbo-Visma team, who after winning the World Cyclocross Championships in Hoogerheide, and doing her spring season on the road, now has set her goal to climb the podium of a World Cup race.
