The new Trek RSL Knit are as expensive as they look
Three new models are added to Trek's road cycling shoe offering, among which stand out their Trek RSL Knit with their striking knit fabric as the main material of their upper. Shoes that incorporate the new METNET technology that allows for a better fit to the foot, something that the Lidl-Trek cyclists are already experiencing.
Trek RSL, shoes that fit like a glove to the cyclist's foot
Total renovation of Trek's top-of-the-line shoe models. Starting because they will be marketed under the name Trek RSL instead of being included in Bontrager, the components and accessories brand of the Wisconsin-based company. These new top-of-the-line models are composed of three shoe models: RSL Knit, RSL Road, and RSL Velocis.
All of them share the incorporation of METNET technology with which the brand has sought a material in the upper that has the maximum adaptability to the foot, with the ability to compress and stretch, so that the fit is as snug as possible for optimal force transfer and, at the same time, adapts to the foot's movements to avoid the appearance of pressure points, the main culprits of numbness and hot feet issues that are common in many ultra-sport shoe models.

Among these three new models, the spotlight is on the Trek RSL Knit which use, as the name suggests, Knit fabric for their upper which already has the mentioned adaptability sought with METNET. In fact, this characteristic makes it a material that has been used for years and regularly in running shoes precisely because of its ability to conform to the foot to the maximum.
In these RSL Knit, the upper is of a boot type, with the fit being done through synthetic leather pieces that originate from the sole and wrap around the foot thanks to the action of a pair of BOA Li2 closures which, in addition, leave large spaces for breathability as well as being a minimalist design. Their sole, of course, is made with OCLV carbon to obtain maximum stiffness and, therefore, the best force transfer in pedaling. Exquisitely designed shoes that, obviously, have a corresponding price, which goes up to 449.99 euros.
More accessible are the Trek RSL Road, the model that will be mostly used by Lidl-Trek cyclists. In this case, it stands out the return to a conventional design with tongue after the trend that was imposed in almost all brands, including Bontrager, of shoes with double flaps which, in many cases, resulted in excessive pressure around the foot.
In this case, the upper is made of the usual synthetic leather on which the METNET technology is applied thanks to a studied micro-perforation that is responsible for giving the desired flexibility to the material to achieve that adaptation, as well as serving to achieve excellent ventilation capacity. They incorporate the same OCLV carbon sole as their older sisters and, like them, they also rely on two BOA Li2 closures but in a more conventional arrangement due to their classic design with a tongue. The price of these Trek RSL Road is 399.99 euros.
Finally, we find the model Trek RSL Velocis, a designation associated with the most aerodynamic accessories in Trek's range. In this case, the material used in its upper is thermoplastic polyurethane, on which the same micro-perforations and ribs are practiced to achieve the adaptability that determines METNET. They have a similar design with a tongue as their Road sisters and the same fit through BOA Li2 closures.
In these shoes, within being a sports model, Trek wanted to create a more permissive option within sportiness, designed for those who spend many hours on the bike but do not want to give up performance. That is why in the sole a combination of carbon fiber and fiberglass is used, making it slightly less rigid and, therefore, less demanding.
Obviously, this translates into being the most economical option within the new Trek RSL shoes, with a price of 249.99 euros. Models that are already available in Trek stores as well as on the brand's website.
