New Trek Domane Gen 5: goodbye to IsoSpeed and only 6.63 kg
Trek presents a completely revamped Domane Carbon that breaks with one of the elements that have historically defined this model: the IsoSpeed is gone. The fifth generation opts for a simpler formula to maintain comfort, based on a new carbon frame, a 27.2 mm seat post designed to flex, and larger volume tires. The result is a significantly lighter bike, with up to 40 mm of tire clearance and an SLR 9 AXS 1x version that weighs only 6.63 kg.
The new Domane still occupies a clearly differentiated space from the Madone. While the latter is Trek's competition bike, with aggressive geometry and special attention to aerodynamics, the Domane maintains a more relaxed endurance position and expands its possibilities from the road to light gravel tracks.
New Trek Domane Gen 5: goodbye to IsoSpeed and up to 305 grams lighter
The big news is in the simplification of the frame. Trek eliminates the IsoSpeed, the decoupling system that has accompanied the Domane since its first generation, and redesigns the carbon layup to achieve vertical flex without compromising the necessary stiffness when pedaling.
There will be two frame levels: OCLV Series 900 for the Domane SLR and OCLV Series 500 for the SL.

The change allows for a significant reduction in weight. The SLR frame and fork set is 305 grams lighter than in Gen 4. Trek claims 835 g for the unpainted SLR frame in size ML and 367 g for the fork. The SL is approximately 1,055 g for the frame.
Additionally, according to Trek's internal tests, the new structure achieves a 6% increase in pedaling stiffness compared to the Domane Gen 4.
How does it maintain comfort without IsoSpeed?
Trek replaces the prominence of IsoSpeed with the combination of three elements: frame, seat post, and tires.
The new RSL seat post is round, made of carbon, and 27.2 mm, but both its geometry and layup have been developed to allow greater vertical flex while maintaining lateral stiffness.
In addition, the new tires of 35 mm as standard are found in practically the entire range. The frame accommodates up to 40 mm, allowing the Domane to also handle rough roads and simple tracks.
Trek assures that, with 35 mm tires, the Gen 5 remains within 5% of the vibrational power recorded by the Domane Gen 4 with IsoSpeed and 32 mm tires. To verify this, vibrations transmitted to the cyclist through the handlebars and saddle were measured.
The wider tire would not result in an overall speed penalty according to the brand's tests. At 20 mph, the 35 mm loses 0.9 W aerodynamically compared to the 32 mm, but gains 1.5 W due to lower rolling resistance using pressures adapted to its volume.
An even more comfortable position and up to 40 mm of tire
The Domane retains the Road Endurance Geometry of the previous generation and will be available in six sizes, from XS to XL, all with 700c wheels.
The position changes, however, thanks to the new Bontrager Riser handlebar, which raises the levers 20 mm. It also incorporates backsweep on the top and a 4 cm difference between the width at the levers and the lower area to increase control.

Trek also adopts shorter cranks:
- XS and S: 160 mm
- M and ML: 165 mm
- L and XL: 170 mm
Versatility remains another important point. In addition to the 40 mm tire clearance, we find threaded T47 bottom bracket, UDH dropout, conventional 27.2 mm seat post, removable front derailleur mount, fender mounts, and attachment points for bags on the top tube and front triangle.

A special Domane for Trek's 50th anniversary
The new generation also debuts the Project One ICON No. 76, a limited special edition of 124 units worldwide.

It is based on the Domane SLR 9 AXS and uses a decoration inspired by Trek's early years, reviving the original logo and Heritage Blue. Its European price will be €12,999.
The Domane SLR will also remain within the Project One program, which allows customization of components, sizes, and finishes.

The fifth generation thus represents one of the biggest changes in the history of the Domane. It loses the IsoSpeed, but gains simplicity, significantly reduces weight, and expands its all-road capability, while Trek tries to maintain the comfort that has always characterized the model through carbon, the seat post, and larger volume tires.
