New Trek District+: an urban eBike with a Bosch motor, equipped for daily use
Trek renews its urban electric bike offering with the new District+, a range designed for those who use the bike as a regular means of transport, but also for those looking for a comfortable eBike for commuting and leisure rides. The family comes with a low-step frame, Bosch motors, integrated and removable batteries, and a complete standard equipment, with prices starting at 2,499 euros.
Trek completely updates the District+: here is its new urban eBike
The new District+ does not aim to approach the concept of a sporty eBike. Trek has oriented the entire project towards ease of use, a relaxed position, and the practicality needed for daily cycling. To achieve this, it combines a simple access geometry with large-volume tires, adjustable power, and, in most versions, a suspension fork.

A unique low-step frame and up to four sizes
One of Trek's most important decisions has been to simplify the concept of the District+. The entire range now uses a Lowstep frame, with a significantly lowered top tube that makes it easier to get on and off the bike, especially in the numerous stop-and-go situations that occur while cycling in the city.

The range is generally offered in four sizes, S, M, L, and XL, although there is a specific District+ 3 N7 configuration limited to S, M, and L. Trek also offers three common finishes, called Dark Star, Cobra Blood, and Lunar Silver.

Comfort has also been addressed at the contact points and in the front area. Trek mounts an adjustable stem, accompanied by 30 mm spacers, allowing for modification of the height and position of the handlebars to achieve a more upright posture.

Additionally, it features generous 700x50c tires, a size that provides enough volume to absorb a good portion of the usual irregularities of urban asphalt. Most versions also add a SR Suntour NEX E25 fork, while one of the configurations opts for a rigid fork.
Bosch Active Line Plus and Performance Line motors
Trek has entrusted all the electric assistance of the District+ to the Bosch Smart System, although the range is divided between two motor units depending on the level of equipment.
The District+ 3 uses the new Bosch Active Line Plus with 60 Nm, while the District+ 4 switches to the Bosch Performance Line. All configurations collected by Trek also use the Bosch Purion 200 display.

There are also significant differences in battery capacity. The entry-level models can be configured with 360 or 540 Wh, while the higher versions go up to 600 Wh.
In all cases, the battery is completely integrated within the down tube, but Trek has maintained the option to remove it from the bike. This allows for charging it while installed in the District+ or taking it out to connect it to a power outlet, which is especially practical for those who store the bike in a garage or storage room without an outlet. The battery also features a security lock.

Conventional gear or Shimano Nexus internal hub
One of the peculiarities of the new range is that Trek does not force a single type of transmission. There are models with conventional rear derailleurs and others with integrated hub gears, a solution particularly interesting in urban bikes due to its integration and simplicity.

The District+ identified as R9 and R10 use Shimano CUES transmissions with 9 and 10 speeds respectively. The N7 uses a Shimano Nexus hub with 7 speeds, while the District+ 4 N5 B employs a 5-speed Nexus.

In this way, the range can adapt to users who prefer the operation of a conventional transmission or to those looking for a solution more focused on everyday urban use.
Equipped as standard for daily use
Another strong point of the District+ is everything that Trek includes directly from the factory. It is not an electric bike that requires additional accessories to convert it into a commuter.

It comes with integrated lights, full fenders, and a MIK HD rear rack, ready to install bags and other compatible accessories. The frame also incorporates additional mounting points.
Trek has even integrated a smartphone holder, and each bike includes a universal adapter for the phone. This is a particularly useful detail considering the connectivity possibilities offered by the Bosch Smart System and the common use of mobile phones as navigation systems in the city.

All of this results in weights that are logically far from a conventional urban bike. Depending on the configuration and the installed battery, Trek declares weights that range approximately between 26.3 and 27.7 kg.
